Welcome to the beginning of my Happy New Beer Cinco de Mayo Sunday (Week 741)! I usually try to come up with a theme for the day, but today I am simply clearing out some pesky CANs that wanted to try & explode on me. In fact, my original CAN did just that & although I was lucky enough to find a replacement at The Beer & Beverage Shoppe, it pooched out in my hands! There is NO more disCANcerting feeling than when a CAN begins to self-destruct while being carried.
From the CAN: "Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale".
Once I managed to Crack! open the vent (& not easily, lemme tell you!), I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug, hoping against hope for success. First, I got some chunky particulate & then it beCAN foaming almost unCANtrollably. Grr. I stopped at one point to allow it to run its course, finishing with just under two fingers of foamy, fizzy, rocky, tawny head that was gone in the blink of an eye. Color was an absolutely cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose actually smelled pretty good with a pronounced orange-y citrusiness. Mouthfeel was medium, but quite carbonated, probably explaining its pooching & the other's exploding. I actually have a CANlection of exploded CANs that I trot out for lectures & presentations. The taste was quite bitter, a citrusy mélange of orange & grapefruit, including pith & zest. I wish that I were not the first reviewer as I have not guidepost to tell me what this was like in its infancy. It was like an Imperial New England IPA to me, but was that what was intended or even what it was like originally? I suppose that such will remain a CANiosity for the ages. Finish was dry and bitter & if you know me, then you know that is what I thrive on. I regret that, since it was a one-off, mine may end up being its only review.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
