Pours a small-ish, fizzy dark head; retention is poor. The brew itself is the darkest stout I have ever seen, motor oil black out of the can and ebony in the glass. Once it has settled it is still and calm, brooding yet inviting.
Aroma is a fairly typical Evil Twin imperial stout: halfway between American and Russian. Quite roasty, with a bit of char and hoppy, earthy bite, but with sweeter notes of molasses, licorice, and brown sugar as well. A bit of cream and vanilla round out the profile.
Flavor leans toward the sweeter and nuttier tones, although a slightly ashy char does emerge on the second half, lasting through the finish. Brown sugar, molasses, cola, vanilla, cinnamon, licorice, marshmallow, cream, caramel, toffee, pecan, walnut, red grape, raisin; a very deep and inviting profile. Leaning toward the sweet side, it may be a full on dessert stout, although it's nowhere near the most decadent of the style.
Quite fizzy, fitting for the "cola stout" moniker. Otherwise, smooth and thick, full bodied, and remarkably easy to drink for the 11.7% ABV.
