Enjoyed from the 16 oz can in a snifter. This solid brew pours a dark
blackish brown with a very nice head of light brown foam that settles
to a thick ring, faint light film, and shows some excellent lacing. Nose
of dark cocoa, light vanilla, dark roasted malts, dark fruit hints, and
faint dark coffee. Flavors nail it with a solid presentation of dark
cocoa, light cream, char, roast, brulee, dark coffee, dark fruits of
black and blueberry, and subtle brewers licorice touches. Nice mouth
feel; medium full edging on full, low carbonation, smooth as silk, rich,
coating, and finishing with a bitter malt note and subtle warmth.

Overall----Evil Twin....nothing more to say than another winner!

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down, leaving a thin but dark tan layer of bubbles covering the surface, a narrow collar around the edges and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with notes of licorice.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark malts with notes of coffee and hints of licorice.
M: It feels medium-bodied and dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout does a very good job at masking any traces of alcohol from the taste.

The beer pours a dark color. It’s smooth, dry and roasty. Good beer.

 

 

 

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer was part of a trade recently.
Beer pours jet black into my glass with a creamy beige head foaming up about 1 cm after a gentle pour. This foam gradually fades to a thin edge layer and one large island in the center of my glass. the beer does leave dense lattice on my glass after each sip.
The aroma is very roasty with a dry roast coffee character and some high% cacao notes mixing. There is also a bit of a dark fruit character, raisin or plum note buried. No hop presence and not boozy either even with the 9% ABV.
First sip reveals a medium to thicker body with smooth texture and very fine prickly carbonation. The bubbles stab my palate on each mouthful.
Flavor is similar to the nose with roasted notes dominating and almost going to a burnt wood note here. SOMe dark chocolate and coffee grounds again, but no fruitiness. I also never find any lactose or sweetness from this milk stout. HOps are absent and the ABV is only faintly present on the swallow with just a little bite.
This is a decent big beer, but the flavor is a little more one dimensional than I would like to see. That being said I am enjoying it, worth a shot if you like dark roasty brews.

Very dark not completely opaque brown with ruby highlights against light. Tan head that stays just the right amount of time, and nice lace.

Nose has lactosey soft roasted notes, bitter chocolate, just a ghost of alcohol.

Taste adds coffee bean style red berry notes, little of actual sweetness is evident, there is an oily part lingering on top of your tongue of an otherwise quite agile mouthfeel. The berries seem to get almost perfumey and the oil soapy as the beer warms up. Chocolate becomes the dominant flavour over time. Alcohol rises to one's palate as the temperature increases. But not really disturbingly.

Surprisingly dry and fruity. It's not like that doesn't work up to a point.. just I feel like this is like a slightly off Black IPA where the ingredient flavours don't quite come together, just in the imperial milk stout context.

 

Pours a turbid mahogany with a thumb+ of caramel colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Sweet cream, iron & a little plum

T: Follows the nose, dry with roastyness and faint raisin notes up front. Roastyness, a touch of iron & faint coffee & cream notes as this warms. Finishes dry with a slight creamy sweetness, roasty & a touch of woodyness

MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation. Body thins as this warms

ABV is well disguised, but expected better flavor

 

Look: It pours black with a brown head. Head retention is excellent.

Smell: It has some sweet notes with medium roast. There is a low chocolate and vanilla note in the background.

Taste: It has a coffee and roast flavor that has a bit of sweetness to it. There are some dark fruit that are most like plums.

Feel: It is quite creamy and has a medium full body. The sweetness lasts in the finish which is counterbalance with a dry impression.

Overall, a stout that is sweet without being overbearing and has a quite good flavor profile.
