Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger foamy/creamy tan colored head that faded slowly and left decent spotty lacing. Smells like most ET imperials stouts with dark chocolate, minerals/sheet metal, burnt coffee grinds, chocolate candy bars, brown sugar and toffee or caramel. It did not have distinct Kit Kat bars in the nose, but it was very chocolate-y.
What I like most about this stout is that it maintains all the stout aspects with roasted malts, rich dark chocolate, light piney hops and earthy notes, and the burnt coffee, soy sauce and caramel that come with most imperial stouts. There's a mild alcohol burn and not as much Kit Kat as I expected, but it's still a well balanced and very complex stout that goes down easier than it should at 14.4% ABV. It's a bit thin feeling but the way they hid the booze of this heavy hitter was very impressive. Evil Twin and Evil Twin Brewing NYC make top notch stouts.
