9 January 2020 - Beer #4
Price: $10.99 at Food Emporium 8th Ave in Manhattan
Appearance: 5 - black black with a pretty dark brown head. Just about perfect.
Nose: 5 - mmm... I could smell it all day. Not overpowering; has the perfect balance of cinnamon and maple. Exactly like Mexican Cake sans pepper.
Taste: 4 - yup, exactly like the nose; Mexican Cake without the pepper. I don't love Mexican Cake, and I don't love this.
Mouth: 4 - thinner than expected. Sticking around for a while though.
Overall: 4 - a very pleasant sipper. Good, but temper your expectations.
Cheers!

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a thin yet dense dark tan colored head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of chocolate and maple syrup are present in the nose.
T: Compared to the smell, the taste is much more complex and stronger with flavors of chocolate with notes of maple syrup and hints of cinnamon and raisins.
M: It feels full-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout drinks exceptionally well for a beer that is 13% abv as you don't really get any of the alcohol in the taste.

Served in a teku glass from the can.
Appearance: The Brew itself comes off a super dark black color resembling motor oil and maple syrup mixed together creating a dark tan head rising pretty thick at least two fingers life, granted I poured it pretty hard. After taking a sip it too is settled lightly to maybe a notch below one finger's length. No stickiness to the glass.
Smell: it's a little hard to decipher this sent because the maple is a touch overwhelming but you do smell a bit of coffee and mocha. Not the stickiest of aromas but smells splendid.
Taste: super ridiculously potent maple but not overwhelming with hints of cinnamon and bread which honestly taste like the perfect desert offset with vanilla and very light coffee.
Mouth: Comes off a very full body with medium carbonation at best, super sticky brew.
Overall: this is the second concoction I have had that is imperial Stout fused with French toast and this one blows my previous one out the water. I took my time drinking this one deciphering the complexity in the taste. You should too and always drinking a glass, Salud!
