4 July 2020 - Beer #135
Corona Day #114
Price: $10.99 at Food Emporium 8th Avenue in Manhattan
Appearance: 5 - look at that blackness and the insane dark head! Yes please!
Nose: 4 - doesn't smell boozy at all. A bit heavy on the cinnamon.
Taste: 4 - yeah, samesies. Very well done on the roasty stout. Extremely tasty. A bit too much cinnamon.
Mouth: 5 - outstanding. Extremely thick. So much action. Chewy and round. Everything mouthful should be.
Overall: 4 - I'm just not a huge cinnamon fan in beer, but otherwise perfect.
Stay safe out there, my friends.
Cheers!

Boiler snifter
Deep heavy dark black with a humongous angry almond colored head with sparse lacing on the glass.
Wow, deep heavy fudge aromas with notes of coconut, German Chocolate Cake, macadamia, and almonds.
Flavor is huge, opening with wood and mushroom, and then chocolate frosting, spice cake, coconut, almonds, macadamia, dark chocolate, caramel, cocoa powder, silk pie, coffee, and vanilla.
Feel is a bit too carbonated at this point, but I won't say that's a fault of the beer since it's so old. I get some nice slickness and of course thick chewy mouthfeel along with some well-hidden moderate alcohol heat and dryness with roasted char bitterness soaking into the tongue.
Overall a very impressive Evil Twin offering and one I'll be seeking out again.

Had on tap in NYC, it pours as black as night with a 1 finger brown colored head that faded slowly and left good lacy coating the sides.
This stout incorporates strong roasty malt notes and rich chocolate with the coconut, cinnamon, macadamia nuts, vanilla and coffee. Taste was more dynamic than the nose, yet both were highly enjoyable. It borders on cloyingly sweet and the alcohol was always present, but it was packed with flavor and a fine slow sipper or dessert beer.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high dark tan head that died down but left a thin head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark chocolate are present in the nose along with notes of cinnamon.
T: The base has flavors of chocolate with notes of coconut and cinnamon and hints of macadamia nuts.
M: It feels just about full-bodied and rather smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: If you close your eyes when drinking this beer, it almost tastes like you are having a liquid version of a spiced chocolate cake (or chocolate mousse). It does a very good job at masking any traces of alcohol.
Serving type: can

On tap at BeerShop, NYC.
Pours a mostly black color, opaque, and with notes of mahogany. A moderate sized mocha head retains fairly well for the high ABV, yet soon dissipates entirely.
Massively complex aroma incorporates all the elements of imperial stout as well as the copious adjuncts. Rich nutty malts aromatics are complimented by macadamia nuts. Aromas of roasted malts evoke chocolate, notes of coffee, cinnamon, vanilla and dark caramel. There is even a hint of minty and leafy hops, in the nose, towards the end.
Rich, full flavored, sweet, boozy and complex. The decadent chocolate fudge like flavors, layered with cinnamon, vanilla and caramel, are somewhat balanced by a cherry flavored tartness. The roasted malt and coffee adjunct flavors evoke espresso beans laced with a strong alcohol spice, hot and peppery and very warming going down the throat. The roasted malts and hops add some element of bitterness to what is, overall, a rich dessert like drink.
Full bodied and creamy. Definitely a sipper due to its booziness. The carbonation is gentle.
The last beer of the night, a dessert nightcap. It is quite the knockout punch.

Served in a teku glass from the can.
Appearance: thick dark black bodied beer coming off with dark tan head rising one and a half finger's length. Medium bubbles, literally looks like dessert in a glass.
Smell: Light cinnamon and vanilla bean. Not super strong but incredibly addicting aroma.
Taste: Lovely complex brew, mellow spicy cinnamon and notes of potent brown sugar. Coconut feel is strong but not overly done.
Mouth: Medium carbonation with incredibly sticky body. Sticky sweet finish, molasses on the palate stick with you but it's chocolate and coffee and bit spicy.
Overall: Good Good brew, honestly top three from the EvilTwin Queens brewery I have had.. Do me a favor and don't share. Salud!
