Not sure what those crazy bastards wanted to accomplish, but the stout/barleywine blend is certainly something I can get behind. Starts the same as every big, boozy, viscous stout, then immediately shifts on the palate to a cloyingly sweet, malty, toffee forward barleywine.
It is a strange transition, and while the blend makes sense, I think it took half a glass for my brain to make sense of it.
And yes, Westchester is upstate.

Served in a teku glass from a Crowler which I picked up one week ago at the brewery.
Appearance: Semi thick black tinted brown body with a bubbly tan head rising about half of one finger's length.
Smell: Sweet mellow vanilla extract aroma. Light alcohol feel which isn't overwhelming.
Taste: Sweet but malty brew consisting of barley and vanilla with a light touch of coffee and caramel. Has a smooth mocha finish which reminds you of an offset devil's food cake.
Mouth: Full body with a medium carbonation and comes off stuper sticky
Overall: Good brew, it's litterally a mix between English barleywine and an American imperial stout. Palates become crushed after a while and think I might take a break before my next one. Salud!
