I'm not a great judge of this because I hate coffee. Many beers supposedly made with coffee don't taste like it. This one does. I finished about a third of it and poured it out.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour with a nice foamy beige head. Aroma is chocolate and burnt toast, coffee, light coconut. Taste really brings out the coffee, maple syrup popping up in the background. Mild sweetness up front, generous bitter bite at the finish. Lots of cocoa/ chocolate too, coconut not as prominent.

*Poured into a Teku glass from a 16oz can*
This poured pitch black, as I expected, from a big boozy stout as this. The head had a decent look to it with a dark mocha color. The head didn't really have a good retention to it, and it faded to a thin lacing relatively quickly.
The aroma was a bit strange. I got a big note of stale cardboard upfront, which was a bit off-putting; I think this might have been a bit too oxidized when I got to it. Despite that, I was still able to discern notes of cocoa nibs, coffee, and mellow notes of coconut from the initial oxidized aroma.
Bitter is the word for the taste of this beer. Normally I don't mind bitter stouts, but this was a little bit too much for me. Upfront, I found notes of dark cocoa nibs coupled with bitter Sumatra coffee. I didn't really get notes of maple syrup or vanilla beans, but I did find a mellow coconut undertone throughout this beer. The beer finished with a strong bitter coffee note. The taste wasn't bad, but I wish that there was a bit of a better balance between the sweetness and bitterness.
The feel of this was super velvety and smooth, but also dry from start to finish. The full bodiedness and the moderate amount of carbonation, made this super easy to drink while also giving this a silky and satisfying mouthfeel. This was honestly the best part about the beer for me.
Overall, I wasn't personally a big fan of this beer, but it was still perfectly drinkable. I think the oxidized smell and the lack of balance between the bitterness and sweetness on this beer kind of ruined it a bit for me. But again, still perfectly drinkable.

Pours a dark brown motor oil looking sort of brew. A finger of dark khaki head. Tightly packed bubbles and strong lacing.
Nose is mainly a fresh pot of coffee. Not getting much more out of it. Smoky and roasty, perhaps some malt creeps through but not by much.
Taste is coffee first, the maple syrup gets stronger as it warms. I'm not sure if I'm getting very much coconut at all. After having a few Evil Twin stouts recently they don't seem to have a good amount of depth. It's usually just a malty beast with a side note of whatever flavor they put in. Granted their stouts are good, but reading the label and being excited usually leads to hype that doesn't pay off.
Mouthfeel is fullbodied and thick. Mild carbonation. A little sticky and dense but not too cloying.
Overall this just seems to be another Evil Twin stout that promises so much but doesn't come through. Its better than a solid brew. Balanced and enjoyable. But when it comes whats going into it I don't always get the flavor. Maybe they should keep it simple and go heavier into the adjunct rather than adding more and it seeming broad.

Im always wary of stouts with coconut because if they use too much, it comes off tasting like some sort of bad cocktail at an all-inclusive in Mexico and just sort of grosses me out. Ive had good luck with Evil Twin though and decided to roll the dice on this beer - Im glad I did.
The coconut isnt overpowering. It's balanced, smooth and not too sweet nor perfumy. The addition of maple syrups and coffee help make it less fruity and blend well as a whole. Good beer, worth buying and at 14%, this will more than get the job done.

Can from the brewery in Queens during the COVID “pause”, pours black with a medium dark tan head and some nice boozy fingers on the glass, smell is coconut, booze soaked chocolate cake, and straight moist dirt, taste follows the nose with sticky chocolate cake, coconut, and a coffee roast peak with nice maple finish, this beer is thick and viscous. A delightfully over the top coconut and maple candy banger. Yum.

Poured into a tulip glass via can
color is milk chocolate
smell is coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and maple syrup
taste is fudgy chocolate up front mixed in nicely with vanilla bean. Maple syrup and coffee come through on the backend
carbonation is low
mouthfeel is thick
considering how many adjuncts are here, they are blended well and its not overly sweet..good stuff

Served in a teku glass from a 16oz can.
Appearance: Crude black motor oil with a dark tan head rising half a finger's length off the body.
Smell: Coffee bean with hints of vanilla and light brown sugar aroma. Comes off light but seriously sticks to your nose.
Taste: Espresso bean with vanilla and hints of mocha. Ligtly sweet like warm brown sugar stirred in a small cup of espresso and feel of vanilla.
Mouth: Soft carbonation but seriously sticky like brown on coffee. Complex sweet at the end which feels a touch like warm pancakes on the fork.
Overall: Good brew but not my favorite I have had from EvilTwin, definitely one of those you will not leave on the shelf....grab it if you are ever so lucky. Salud!
