this is freaking awesome beer not at all what i expected it to be, but a total banger, so glad i picked up the single, way way way more fruited than the other version of this series i have had in the past, edition ix, some many years back now, packed with citrus, but this is fruit beer long before its ipa this time, a great mix of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and the apparently obligatory lactose and vanilla, its a milkshake beer after all. the color is striking, crayon purple, thick as can be and increasingly thick as i pour toward the bottom of the pint can, where it looks like mostly just fruit puree, wildly purple, short but not nonexistent ruby red head on it, pretty color, slightly messy beer, style permits that i suppose, at least by precedent. the aroma and flavor are mental, so much fruit, strawberries first sweet and ripe and real, blackberry jam through the long middle, and more tart raspberry later, they each have their own unique moment but are also of course very cohesive, so intense on the fruit, calling this ipa, even with some appreciable hop fruitiness in play, feels like a stretch. some nice citrus from the hops and indeed some bitterness at the end, even slightly green, balancing the fruit sweetness, which is plentiful. vanilla is tastefully done and actually a cool bridge from fruit to hops and back again, and the lactose is maybe unneeded but not offensive in here, super flavored but also super good, i think the small is slightly more compelling than the taste, but its delicious too, its just that little mouthwatering berry tang sets it up so nice, maybe a pineapple note from the hops too, very little appreciable grain flavor but the body sure is thick. weird and fascinating beer, has me eager to try the others in the series now. not really ipa, but an exciting and yummy fruit bomb! for anyone who thinks they dont like beer, maybe give this one a try...

Canned 5/4/23
I ended up with quite a few Evil Twin beers in my latest Tavour box, a brewery I haven't had in quite some time before this box. I've been liking what I've had so far, and I'm sure this will be no difference. Let's crack it open and see what it has to offer
Pours an opaque maroon purple with a finger of pinkish white head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
I know Milkshake IPAs really tend to push the standard definition of IPA to its limits, but this does not have any discernible hoppy notes in the nose as the best ones do. I'm picking up on aromas of tannic blueberry skin, tart raspberry, doughy malt, lemon juice, graham cracker, vanilla, and light strawberry
And it's even more just a milkshake minus IPA in taste, yet it's still quite enjoyable. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting jammy blackberry, tart raspberry, sweet vanilla, lemon zest, juicy strawberry, honey, and doughy malt. The swallow brings notes of juicy strawberry, vanilla, whipped cream, tart raspberry, blueberry skin, graham cracker, doughy malt, and lemon juice
A medium full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a thick beer. Finishes very sticky and sweet, to the point where it severely hurts the drinkability
The thick body without much acidity or anything to cut through it kinda kills this one for me. I don't hate it by any means, but it's one of my least favorite Evil Twin beers to date

Served in a teku glass from the growler which I picked up at the brewery two weeks ago.
Appearance: Dark maroon coming off completely opaque looking more like a bubbly red wine. Off-white head which rose to just about a notch below one fingers length off the body.
Smell: heavy fruit aroma which lingers to the nose, comes off like rasberry and blackberries fused to the nose.
Taste: Sweet yet a little tarty, dessert in a glass with hints heavy cream. Like you would take strawberry, berries, milk and vanilla dumped into a blender. It is a touch sweet so for me it's the last one for the night.
Mouth: Sticky body which it's like syrup on a pancake.
Overall: Great brew, milkshake IPA which is literally a classic. Always in a glass.
