Drank from a 1 pint can purchased on Tavour
Canned on 07/03/24
Served in a tulip
The beer poured a hazy, deep oxblood hue and was topped by a half-inch tall, tight, creamy, light magenta crown. The head quickly dissolved and the resulting body looked nearly flat. There was no lacing whatsoever.
The aroma was impressive. Sweet and candy like but not excessively so. Cherry notes came through strongest. Nice sweet-tart cherry presence. Loads of almond too. Very amaretto-like. Bit of semisweet chocolate as well. Fresh vanilla bean was also noticeable. Hint of raspberry. The nose became even sweeter and punchier as the liquid warmed.
The flavor profile was nearly identical to the aroma, but the sweetness came across as a bit excessive here. Cherry notes dominated up front. Excellent sweet-tart balance. Almond notes also came through strong. Like in the nose, amaretto came to mind. Raspberry was noticeable as well. Bit of vanilla in the center. Tart blackberry notes appeared on the back end and carried into the finish. There was a nice lingering, lemony acidity here too.
The mouthfeel was solid but thinner than I anticipated. Medium bodied for the style. A touch viscous, in a fruit juice sort of way. The liquid contained a finer beaded, somewhat zippy effervescence that turned fluffy and soft on the palate.
ET Stay(ed) Home 12 - Royal Treatment is an enjoyable and refreshing kettle sour with an interesting amaretto-like quality. However, because this beer is so sweet, I would recommend splitting the can with a friend or two.
