For what it is, it really hits the spot. Fans of something different who are looking for grape should give this one a try. The grape and milk sugar combo is sweet and slightly tart. Think Evil Twin nailed this one.

A: An unusual color experience, even more so I as read further reviews. A dark emerald green coloring, which according to everyone else was suppose to be purple (grape), which makes a lot more sense. I have pictures to prove it. Can date was one year previously, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but my beer was St. Patricks day green, with a stone white capping, 1/2 inch with a very short life expectancy.

S: The nose was grape soda, not much else to it.

T: Flavor was acidic, kettle souring, nice level albeit, grapes, that pack quite the wallop.

M: Mouthful was smooth, acidic, light.

O: Overall i generally like evil twins reckless regard for the unusual. Found this to be quite boring. Kettle sour, grapes, it delivers on its intentions, not quite sure what i was expecting, but the drinkability for me suffered, as well my excitement level for the due process. Not sure what happened with the coloring aspect, age?, better suited for a St. Patricks day beer, but nothing i would mention or be interested in revisiting.

Here's a one-of-a-king beer experience. I've been beering for decades and I never saw a beer the color purple! Nuthin' but grape here--looks like grape juice, smells like grape juice. There's a touch of hop bite in the background to keep the cloying at bay. To some nauseatingly sweet, to others adventive. So, if you're in an adventurous mood...?

As far as Kettle Sours go, it's pretty rare to see grapes used as a fruit, especially in a standalone setting. It's one thing in genuine spontaneous Wild Ales, where they're aged in wine barrels or conditioned on grapes, but this is different. I'm excited for this one so let's get into it

Pours a cloudy dark purple with 2 fingers of grayish purple head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing

Damn, this just smells like grape soda with a little more of a kick. I'm picking up on aromas of grape soda, grape candy, and light lemon zest

This is also basically a grape soda in taste, but there's a little more depth to it. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting grape juice, lime juice, light bread, and grape candy. The swallow brings notes of grape candy, grape soda, lime zest, and a very light touch of red wine

A medium body pairs with gentle airy carbonation, resulting in a syrupy yet somehow refreshing beer. Finishes mostly dry but sweet

If you look at this as a beer, it's awful. But that's not how we should look at it. As a hard soda and fruity cocktail, it's pretty damn good! Not something I'd always reach for, but I certainly enjoyed it

as weird as the orange one was, almost hard to judge as a beer, instead i kind of want to compare it to other grape sodas, the flavor is so spot on, weird as this is, and as much as it seems to rely on artificial flavors and colors, its fun i guess, even though i dont want to drink very much of it. the beer elements are minimal here, almost presents more like a seltzer, except i do get a little weird tired lactic tang as it warms, aside from that, its all grape candy! the color is purple, unnatural, and sort of grey and fading maybe, fizzy but not holding much head, super weird looking. the aroma almost fills the room, grape jolly rancher to me, no real fruit or anything from the malt or hops, hardly a beer, but it does smell like purple drank! i give it a lot of credit for doing what it sets out to do, this is straight up grape soda, they nailed it. just because i dont really want a whole one doesnt mean the mission wasnt successful, its spot on. sweet on the teeth, feels a little strange in the belly to, but i respect the effort. these guys are still among the kings of weird beers, glad we get them occasionally in idaho. never had one quite like this!

I'm rating this to style and to what Evil Twin was shooting for.
Grape looks like almost flat grape soda
Grape smells like grape grape soda with a grating if lime zest
Grape tastes like a brand name grape soda with a splash of lime juice
Grape feels like almost flat grape soda and leave a soda aftertaste
In short, Evil Twin was aiming for a beer version of grape soda and that's what they got.

If wine has their spritzers, why can't beer have their beer sodas? In what could be BeerAdvocate's shortest beer review ever, Evil Twin puts out a grape beer that will likely be seen as an abomination in beer to many.

Grape looks, ...well... deep purple with a spritzy, fizzy cap. Short in stature, the beer is easily mistaken for grape sodas or kook-aid. Its aromas do nothing to thwart such assumptions as its nose is of artificially flavored grape. Sugary and sweet to taste, the beer's spot-on grape soda flavors are unmistakable to those of us who remember Big League Chew

Nothing really changes from the initial sip through the middle palate and onward to finish. A slight tilt toward tartness and a hint of dryness is all that separates Grape the beer from any other generic grape soda.

Medium bodied, sugary and actually somewhat refreshing, there's a faint bitterness in finish that takes the attention away from the sugary pop sweetness briefly, that would otherwise plague the finish. With no real sense of alcohol or malt structures to describe, this review could have started and ended with one word: "grape". Although there's nothing beer-like to taste, it's also undeniable that its quite tasty, just not what's needed when wanting a beer.
