Aroma is coffee, dark malts, a hint of chilies and huge chocolate/milk chocolate. The flavor is chocolate/milk chocolate, dark malts and an acidic/slightly sweet/hint of spicy finish.

16 ounce can packaged 04/12/22.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 1.5 inch mocha head over a near black body with scant lacing.

Nose of dark roasted malt, chocolate malt, and slight coffee.

Taste is mostly chocolate as the coffee has faded measurably.

Mouthfeel is lacking a bit with low carbonation.

Overall, at 18 months old, still tasty, but not much coffee to speak of.
Oh well, it was free!
Cheers!!

these guys always do such an amazing job with stouts, cool to see something i have not had from them before. the steady flow of their beers out this way has really slowed down, a shame, i have always been a fan! this has an april 2022 date on the bottom of the can, unfortunate, but my heart of hearts tells me that was a best by date, but even if its a born on, its over a year old now, and its obvious the coffee part, which is still front and center here, has faded a lot. super viscous beer, had to double check the abv to assure it wasnt like 12% abv or something, its that dark and dense, some fish food sediment at the bottom too, a thick tight half inch of light brown head with good retention on it, leggy in my wine glass, high shine, looks bigger than it is for sure. the nose and taste show some fading coffee and dark roasted malts, this is bitter right away and really never takes on any middle sweetness, faint brown sugar at temperature is all. licorice and tobacco, burnt wood, over extracted espresso, and light smoke. i love how heavy this is in body, really wintery and intense feeling and tasting, but the green pepper and wet paper notes of the dying coffee leaves me wondering what this could have been. freshness is always an issue out west with high price point specialty stuff from the east coast, but its a shame nevertheless. still a lot of coffee flavor, but any special nuance it may have had is gone, just sort of intense in dose but safe in flavor at this point. smooth for its assertiveness, no coffee acidity at all, and a nice lingering bitter bite at the end with well hidden alcohol. overall probably amazing when it was new, well past that now, but still cool if you like them super dark and roasty and full bodied, a great base stout obviously here. the sediment is a little off putting on the last few sips, but it probably wasnt there when this first came out. fun to try, but past its window now. hoping for a return of more evil twin stuff out this way!

Pours pitch black color with a small brown head that faded on the faster side, leaving minimal spotty lacing. Smells of roasted malt, dark chocolate, bakers chocolate, minerals, coffee grinds and faint caramel. Tastes like it smells with the additions of espresso, fudge, tea leaf, metallic notes and piney hops. The ABV is masked well but the coffee flavors are lighter than the can indicates.

I was expecting more coffee in both the taste and the aroma, so I was let down. Overall it’s very thin, but a tasty coffee beer.

A straight-up coffee stout, this is pure cold coffee. Pours with some reddish light showing through the brown/black body. Cold-pressed coffee, earthy roast, mild dark cacao, present bitterness...just a straight-up coffee stout, not a pastry stout or sweetened bomb.

16oz can dated 04/12/22 so not the freshest coffee stout and it shows. Maybe if it was only a month old the sweetness would of been balanced by the coffee flavor, but here the coffee has faded and let the sweetness overwhelm the palate. Very little roasted malt, very little complexity, just underwhelming.

16 ounce can, canned 01/07/22, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good enough. The brew smells like coffee, dark fruit and roasted malt. Taste is similar to the aroma but with the addition of some dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, licorice and nutty flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall coffee stout, certainly worth trying if you get the chance!

Smells and tastes very similar to a cold brew coffee. Certainly better than a cold brew coffee. Great head with dark creeping lacing. Well done by brewers.

Dark brown pour with no carbonation or lacing. Aroma is earthy choclate roast with light char. Taste follows with chocolate earthy char, a small bit of oxidation, and light sweetnes and bitterness. Lingering light chocolate char and a medium body. Overall: underwhelming.
