First, it's black coffee brown, once inside a clear glass liter mug. The contents of a pint can fit there easily, even with a decent half-inch tan head. Although it's solid, there's nothing unique about the aroma. You'll get the typical roasted barley stout blast, with notes of dark chocolate and black coffee. Maybe the quality here is a little better. This drinks gorgeously richly and smoothly. Yes, there's a hint of alcohol, but it adds, rather than detracts to/from the taste. A testimony to its richness, the head sustains and there's some stratified glass lacing. Both, especially the latter, are rare, even in good Imperial Stouts. This is a rare and incredible brew. It's one of the better Ip⁰0mperial Stouts you'll ever have. If you accept the style, then it's one of the better beers you'll ever experience. With an ABV of 11.5 percent, it's understood that this isn't just for every occasion. But, if you're at home and have no where to go, try this. You may not taste the alcohol, but guaranteed, you'll feel it. Yet, you'll probably remember the drinking experience more.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Pours a deep onyx topped by a finger of wet khaki foam. The nose comprises maple syrup, molasses, light toast, and hazelnut spread. The taste brings in more of the same, the nuts getting stronger and more varied (there's almost an amoretto character in there), some Nutella joining in (this, somehow, is different from the aforementioned hazelnut spread), and a bit of toasted coconut rounding things out. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a thick-ish feel. This one was just a bit much for me, the strangely harshly sweet nut aspects clashing a bit with the sweetly roasty backdrop.
