Cola insipided sour ale does its job of being unique but a tad too sweet for more than one a sitting. Crushable!

i believe this to be different than their cola sour from the past or from any of the nyc cola themed beers, done with cola syrup and caramel color, like why do we need caramel color in a beer that already is made with syrup that makes it brown? seems like an extra degree of artificiality, which maybe is the point here. i liked the orange and grape versions in this series, but root beer and cola were whack, neither my wife or i could finish our halves of the can, and the drain got the rest, a shame, because this has so much potential, like actually using the herbs and spices and fruits and whatever else cola was originally made from, this is like an extract home brew in a way, and its super sweet and cheap tasting, cola-esque in nose and taste for sure, and it looks like one in the glass too with the fizzy tan head and the large soda bubbles and all, but this is not enjoyable to drink, peppery and bitter, sour up front and diabetic later on, hints of cherry and rum and raisin and melted plastic and raw cane sugar and molasses, the finish is rough, and even though this does mimic cola somewhat effectively, its not appealing in beer form, at least not in my house. the idea has legs, but this just is not the way to go about it. the novelty of the series has fully worn off for me...
