Thanks to Roy_Hobbs for this one from his first NBS BIF #15 hit. 16oz can (dated 12/5/17) poured into 16oz tulip. Poured a total and complete solid black color with comfortably more than an inch of brown head that had very good retention and light lacing.
Solid roast and light coffee at the front of the nose, with some vanilla in the background. None of the chilies or cacao were present.
Some pepper heat was present on the tongue, as well as a touch of alcohol heat. The coffee/roast was a bit bolder, and a little chocolate showed up.
The body was a bit lighter than typical for the style, mostly smooth, and had a semi-sweet finish.
Drinkability was OK, not a chore to finish.
Overall, a collab between 2 breweries that was brewed at a 3rd? Sure OK, whatever. Maybe that's why nothing really stands out, and all kinda blurs together.
