Look: Pours a deep orange color with a surprising amount of fruit puree and pulp. Obviously unfiltered. There are little purple flecks of passion fruit floating around in the glass which is a little unsightly. It's very thick and chunky. No head, no lacing. This is an ugly looking beer unfortunately.
Aroma: Tangerine, sweet banana puree, passion fruit, sour funky papaya.
Taste: It's got a slow build up to it and comes through in waves; showcasing lots of overripe tangy mango. There's a funky passionfruit/lacto kick initially; complemented by some rather acidic notes of pineapple juice before it ends on a bit of sweet banana. Milkshake like and thick with a deep, tangy mango flavor, balanced out by an assertive lacto sourness.
On a side note, this is the type of beer you have to serve ice cold. It's almost like a fruit smoothie. . . I would never wanna touch this stuff at anywhere near room temperature, let alone if it was warm.
Feel: The body is thick, effervescence is low. Tartness is high, moderately funky and dank. I am not a fan of the little chunks and flecks of fruit floating around in the beer, it just gives it a strange mouthfeel. It's a lot like full pulp orange juice in my opinion, I personally don't like it but I can see how some people might. Sessionability is low, it's thirst quenching to a degree, but very sweet and somewhat boozy at times, leaning into that "one and done" beer category.
Overall: If you like mango lassi, you will love this stuff. This is basically dessert in a can. Excellent flavor; weird mouthfeel. It's fruit smoothie like; which I wasn't expecting, typically I prefer my sour beers to be crisp and not so rich but I enjoyed trying something different.
