6 months old. Can to tumbler.
L: Pours pitch black with a foamy golden brownish head that doesn’t leave any lacing. Lots of tiny golden floaters visible.
S: Dark chocolate, coffee, almond and marzipan. Malty, sweet and roasty.
T: Exactly as it smells. First chocolaty and sweet with notes of roasted almonds and marzipan, then slightly bitter with notes of dark chocolate and coffee.
F: Full and creamy. Rather high carbonation. Quite sticky.
O: Haven‘t had the ET version before, but this one‘s great. Even though I prefer my stouts without any adjuncts, they fit in quite smoothly in this case. Balanced and complex even without any barrel aging. Would benefit from a little less carbonation.

Served in a snifter glass from the can.
Appearance: An opaque black bodied brew resembling fresh brewed espresso. Dark tan head rose initially a nudge below one fingers length off the body.
Smell: Chocolate cake aroma which lingers in the nostrils. Meshed with coffee beans and vanilla aroma. Like seriously appetizing just smelling it.
Taste: complex vanilla and fudge brown taste, the brew tastes almost like a marble pound cake with deep hints of mocha.
Mouth: Sticky body with a soft carbonation. The aftertaste is very strong, even paired with a grilled cheese sandwich the coffee and vanilla is ridiculously potent.
Overall: An upgrade compared to the original. A pastry stout which delivers. Always in a glass, Salud!
