16 ounce can into a snifter. Had 4/4/23.
Pours an amber color, semi opaque, with a one and a half inch creamy foam head and a good amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of malt, caramel, plum jam, light vanilla and cinnamon. Has a somewhat herbal aroma and smells a little sweet. Flavors of malt, caramel, herbal hops, plum jam, some vanilla, light- but a little more than the nose, cinnamon. Smooth, a very good medium body, well carbonated.
Not all that much vanilla and even less cinnamon, so it doesn’t make you too much smarter. Not bad overall, but not what you (ok, me) expected when they sucked you in with the name. The big herbal notes were interesting. Not their finest effort.

Evil Twin has the strangest beer names and that's one reason I picked this up. It just made me laugh. The beer has an upfront English bitter bite with smooth and fragrant spice/vanilla. The barleywine isn't sweet or syrupy like a lot tend to be, allowing for the grains to shine on their own.

I bought this kind of reluctantly, vanilla and cinnamon don't sound too promising in a barleywine. It's okay at least. The cinnamon does help cut the vanilla sweetness but they jibe together very well.
