7 months old. Can to snifter.
L: Pours pitch black with neither head nor lacing. No floaters visible.
S: Dark chocolate, cocoa and coffee. Roasty, woody and slightly boozy.
T: Dark, roasty and very dry. Heavy rum notes with a bit of dark chocolate and coffee. No sweetness and minimally bitter.
F: Oily but also somehow thin. No carbonation whatsoever.
O: Looks and smells very promising, but unfortunately the taste doesnât match up to it. The rum notes are overpowering everything else which leads to a highly unbalanced and flat taste. Even though it looks nice and oily, it feels rather thin. Definitely one of the weaker members of the Great Northern series.
