This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich earthy maple, roasted malt, smoke, coffee, and sweet toasted coconut.
I haven’t had much from the original Evil Twin, and I used to really love their stouts. So, it’s definitely nice to see that original outfit still does stouts well, as I know that Evil Twin NYC certainly does it well with the Great Northern Series. There’s a good amount of coconut here, but it’s not overwhelming, as there’s more maple and barrel than anything else. There’s also some chocolatey, and a little bit of smokey malt.
This is thick, creamy, and not all that boozy, with a nice drinkability.
I like this quite a bit – I can’t wait to try the version without coconut.
