I like when Evil Twin tackles classic styles like this humble Quad. The name of it reminded me that Quads go well with blue cheese, so I’ll definitely be having some alongside this beer. Let’s dive right in
Pours an opaque medium brown with 2 fingers of creamy tan head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose here is a bit more bready than you'd expect for this yeast driven style, but I still dig it. I'm picking up on aromas of pumpernickel toast, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, black cherry, red grape, black pepper, leather, and light leafy hops
It's still bready and gentle in taste and I still very much enjoy it. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting dark bread, raisin, brown sugar, dark caramel, black pepper, black cherry, and leather. The swallow brings notes of red grape, dark bread, molasses, brown sugar, black pepper, leafy hops, overripe banana, and toffee
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes neutral and balanced
This isn't your average Quad, not quite ester-y enough for that, but it is damn good as is

A- Love the labelling....honestly thought when I first saw it that it was a blue cheese ale of some sort! It pours out of the can with a lovely tan colored head that is creamy, dense, and about three fingers thick, before gently settling into a puffy thick layer of what looks like a foam cannon produced, which also is leaving behind a great looking layer of solid lacing all around the inside of my glass. The coloration of the beer is dark toffee brown and is reasonably opaque....carbonation would seem to be fairly gentle, based on the tiny explosions I'm seeing in the layer of the head.
S- I get a gentle reminder that this is somewhat of a high test style, with smooth, yet warming booziness hits my nose immediately. There is also aromas of dark toffee/caramel, ripe black fruits, stronger fruity yeast, heavy in the toasted malts, and underlying hints of cooked brown sugar/blackstrap molasses and a sweet rummy tone on the finish....smells tasty!
T- Sweet and heavy caramel and toffee like malt right up front on the palate....dark fruits, like fig/sultana/prune are detected, with plenty of creamy yeast, and rummy booze that lasts well into the finish and beyond....it tastes like a liquid version of a dark fruitcake!
M/O- This is definitely a medium-full beer, that has a super smooth body and is somewhat chewy. The carbonation is what I thought it would be....tight and mellow on the palate, allowing the full rich flavors to shine through. While it is very good and tasty, this is plenty to enjoy as I near the end of my pint, and would be very suitable to share with a good friend. It does pair well with the Polish Sausage I was just having alongside the beer....very delectable...try it! Overall, this is a very nice version of a Quad....could be just a little spicier, but this is nothing to really complain about....this is an excellent brew!

I thought this was a quadruple IPA, but then I poured it and realized it was a Quad. Dark brown, mild head and lacing. Scents of Belgian yeast and dark fruit. Taste is strong dark fruit and notes of brown sugar and molasses. Medium bodied, subtle alcohol presence, clean finish.
