Opaque dark brown with a tan head. Caramel malts with earthy hops and oak in nose, simple and unorthodox. Taste adds dark grains but to its detriment as it accentuates the hops. Feel is thinner, oak is pleasant but it isn't really a great asset as the malt still define the body. This one didn't work for me

Canned in November 2023; drank 2/18/24 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big, noisy tan head; decent lacing remained.
Caramel, wood & faint red berry notes in the nose.
Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Caramel & wood flavors up ftont; mild booze heat & faint red berry notes on the finish.
Doppelbocks are a bit sweet, of course, but this one goes a bit too far; it's not bad, per se, but it's not one to seek out over the German classics.

16iz can from Tavour. Dark b own pour with a fizzy beige head. Aroma is malty and sweet, light chocolate. Taste doesn't differ, same elements as the taste coupled with a nice hefty feel. A little bit of bitterness at the finish. Very well rounded.

poured from a 16oz can into a new glarus 30th anniversary mug. pours a chocolate-looking dark brown with two fingers of dark khaki colored foam head. lots of chocolate on the nose and taste. also get some caramel and pumpernickel / rye bread on both the nose and taste but it’s extremely chocolate forward. as it warms there is a little more expressive lager yeast to the nose. maybe to the taste a little too but it’s still a lot of chocolate. medium-full mouthfeel. kind of chalky but definitely enough carb to not make it syrupy. i’ve really enjoyed this series so far but this one wasn’t quite up to part with the others i’ve had.
