Canned 12/28/23. Drank 7/5/24.
Pour is a clear, deep ruby red. Nice creamy cap of beige foam with good retention. Good lacing
Nose is cherry, very subtle tart cherry, ester, plum, raisin.
Taste is plum, raisin, hint of toasty malt and roasted malt. Minimal hop character, some toffee and caramel.
Full body, lower carbonation than is typical for the style (which is kind of hard to determine, based on "American Dark Strong Ale." I've always kind of taken that to be an American brewed Belgian Quad....but. hm.
However, as the beer warms, I get English barleywine vibes.
