Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass; indiscernable birth date. Pours deep brown (black) with thin foamy head that rapidly recedes. Tastes of cinnamon, dark fruit, and molasses... slight vanilla (sweet) taste towards the end. Good mouthfeel. Good holiday beer.

Pours an effervescent chestnut/mahogany with one finger of mocha colored head. Average-ish head retention & lacing. Fairly viscous
S: Cinnamon, dark fruit & a little vanilla
T: Follows the nose, figs & plums & a little leafy & woody hops up front, a little brown sugar & juicy fruit phenol. A bit of salted plum, cinnamon, figs & brown sugar as this beer warms up. Finishes with brown bread cinnamon, nutmeg, dryness ^ woody hop bitterness
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation. Body thins out some once warmed
Drinks easy enough for the style, but this is a one & done for me. Too much cinnamon for me to really get into

16 ounce can, no dating on it that I noticed because I have no idea what U 4 6 stamped on the bottom of the can is supposed to mean. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this can! Served in a Teku, the beer pours a dark brown color with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, and some dark fruit. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some nutmeg noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and a bit rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was good, worth picking up a can or 2 if you come across some!

Picked up a 16 oz can from the Energy Mart cooler on Long Shoals Road on 1-25-25 for $4.09. Canning code of V 4 G @15:16:22. Guessing it is 11-14-24; consumed 3-1-25. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured dark brown with a pretty good off white head.
Nose has notes of dark fruits, vanilla and cinnamon.
Taste follows the nose as the yeasts imparts some figs and prunes on top of a light but substantive malt base. Cinnamon was strong with the initial sips but after palate adjustment it works well with the cinnamon.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very smooth.
Overall, this is a nice sipper, can see this working during the holidays as a dessert beer.

DATE: January 19, 2025... OCCASION: two beers in one day--always a good sign! This one is a bit more suitable for the night cap watching movies with the family... GLASSWARE: Affligem chalice... pours a dark, black, opaque mass yielding a quickly diminished beige head that rings and clouds attractively enough... heavy candied sugars, plums, baked bread, cola, and hard fruits suggest a warming, vinous aspect that endears its aroma... its mouthfeel is on the dry side, a red with softened edges... its 8% strength lies comfortably hidden within its profile, a somewhat chewy experience... as its aroma suggested, sugars, plums, hard fruits, brown ale, toasted bread, with hints of cinnamon, cardamom, fig, and that Belgian mystique of airy hops that uplift and fortify... this wins with a balance and joy that only comes from a Belgian ale--its character is active, pleasant and sweet--a big, soft, bold experience....

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This festive little brew pours a deep dark
brwon with mahogany outlines and a nice head of khaki foam that settles to a
thick ring, thin layer, and sports some nice lacing. Nose of dark date bread, brown
sugars, light spices of cinnamon and nutmeg akin to a spice cake, and toasted malts.
Flavors lightly exceed the nose with cinnamon more pronounced than the nose
let on to, light nutmeg, light brown sugars, dates, figs, dark breaded malts, and
subtle dried cherry nuances. Mouth feel is medium, medium light carbonation,
smooth, and a lightly spiced finish.
Overall, a solid little Belgian strong dark ale!
Cheers

December 2024. Athens. Excellent rate from the start not overpowering nice hints of cinnamon chocolate full mouth feel. Drink it outside by the fire the cool air kept it at a nice temperature the longer it’s half the better it tasted, but definitely buy this one again.

From the bottom of the can: "V 4 G 15:26:48"
Appearance: It's a black bodied beer with a medium tan head that is mostly smooth. It forms some strings of lacing on the glass. Very good retention.
Aroma: There is a slightly metallic scent. It has a bit of an acrid aroma which smells a lot like heavily kilned malt.
Taste: There is a bit of spice and some char. A ton of cinnamon comes through but there is a bit of something else that comes through. It pops through on the tongue briefly before the freight train of cinnamon hits the tongue. It tastes a bit floral almost. Mostly it just tastes like cinnamon.
Mouthfeeel: It feels medium-light but there is a bit of a texture that accompanies it, almost like little dots on the tongue that wash away with the rest of the beer.
Overall: It's a pretty good beer. The label states that it is a "DARK BELGIAN-STYLE ALE WITH CINNAMON, NUTMEG, & VANILLA." It also says "DRINK FRESH" but the date on the bottom of the can isn't clear so I have no idea how fresh it is. The cinnamon flavor is very good. I don't pick up nutmeg or vanilla but the beer as a whole is enjoyable. It's not something I'd likely buy more of but I'm enjoying the one I have. It's worth trying out if you enjoy cinnamon, especially if you can throw it in a mix-a-six pack or if you are trying sampler.

And with that, Our Most Popular Holiday Beer makes a Belgian-esque debut with a dark and rusty garnet pour with bubbles to highlight a tall and rustic lather. As its scent of dark, dried and pitted fruit swirl about the nose, so do a counterpart of holiday spice, coffee cake and a hint of red wine. Sweet to start, the malty underpinnings of the ale start with brown sugar, toffee, hard candy and light pastry.
The middle palate shows a shift to the fruity esters and their impressions of date, raisin, fig, plum, blackberry and prune in near-cobbler fashion. An offset of fruitiness happens with the spicy phenols that trend in that cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger and peppercorn direction. As the ale shows a moderate bitterness, the session closes with hints of red wine and coffee cake once more.
Full bodied and richer than more traditional Belgian versions, this rounded, sweet and slightly cakey display of flavors are well within reason for the darker, stronger ale of Belgium.

Dark like a porter with tan head. Nose is cocoa but malty. Soft feel and drinking beer. No bitterness to speak of just an easy drinking dark beer. Be careful
