Poured into a Seattle Beer Week glass. Pours a dark orange red with a fine, two finger aged ivory head with great retention and solid lacing; looks nice. Aroma of dark, grainy lager malt, cocoa, brown bread crust and a touch of caramel. Flavor is dark and grainy malt, cocoa, light caramel, brown bread; light woody finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I used to drink a lot of Evil Twin brews, but they are not that common in our market any more, so I sprang for this interesting sounding one. Glad I did. I'm a fan of the popularity of the Czech dark lager style and this is an interesting one. The basic lager has the character of darker malts, dark bread and chocolate, but with a quite welcome light woodiness in the finish from the fourdre. Surprising flavor depth and complexity for the ABV. Nicely done. Hoping to see some more Evil Twin brews around.

Great balance for the style. The Foudre adds balance ,and a wood finish, a bias toward that. On tap at the source. Some colour, very nice. I would have this again.
