Thick, black, oily looking mess, great brown head, even some lacing!
Snot factory, says dark roast, dried fruit, cocoa maybe a bit of vanilla.
Taste buds agree, some woody notes, some booze, caramel. Thick'n chewy texture. Terrific slow sipper.

16oz can poured into a SA perfect pint
A- pours thick jet black with a one-finger creamy brown head that reduces to a thin film on top
S- malty dark fruit notes initially with dried figs, raisins and prunes. Dark chocolate and roast follow, along with black licorice and molasses. There's a light caramel bourbon note, but the barrel is subdued for the most part
T- bold roasted malty notes up front are quickly followed by black cherry, raisin, prune and fig. Mid-palate gives notes of molasses, anise and chocolate. The finish gives a sweet caramel note that suggests barrel influence, but still hard to find the barrel. Lingers of prunes, chocolate and booze
M- heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel that turns chewy into a warming velvety finish
O- drinks like a classic bold Russian Imperial Stout, I just wish it had more barrel

Pitch black pour with a short dark brown sugar head. Notes of espresso and chocolate. Feel is very thick and oily. 13% ABV is a plus but this is truly a one and done brew.

Solid black appearance with a lasting thick mocha head
Just below average carbonation with a thick heavy body.
Aroma is dark fruit, mocha, roasted malt, wood, sweet boozy, bourbon.
Taste has some sweetness, mocha ,dark fruit and berry. Theres malt, molasses, roasted malt and a dry, wood finish that lingers
A little rough, not super polished but that works for this. Very flavorful complex beer thats definitely worth trying

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head that left thin lacing. It smelled of bourbon, oak, vanilla, rich chocolate, toffee and coffee. Great boozy, bourbon taste with vanilla, tobacco, rich chocolate and toffee.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates in a minute to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with moderate char, bakers chocolate, light coffee; very faint dark fruit. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, bakers chocolate, a hint of vanilla, drip coffee. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A dark, very rich and chocolatey stout with some char smoke. I'm not getting the bourbon notes others found, and my hunch is that this was barreled in plain oak, although there's only a touch of woody oak. The flavor is not too complex; chocolate and coffee, but both are full bodied and flavorful. I realized that there are few big barreled stouts like this without a lot of bourbon (or other liquor) character and it's kind of nice to revisit a straightforward, lightly woody barreled stout. I've always like the Jesus variants and this one is a winner for me.

Pours dark brown with not much head. Smells like a typical big stout with chocolate, a whiff of bourbon and heat. Tastes like bitter chocolate, a little espresso, some dark fruit, a little dry and a burn from the alcohol. This is a big, bad, barrel aged stout and it’s a style I like and usually rate pretty high but there’s something a little off and out of balance on this one and will probably not try again

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This nice imperial pours a pitch black with a
nice head of brwon foam that settles to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and sports
some nice light lacing. Nose of faint bourbon, dark bakers cocoa, dark coffee,
heavy char, and subtle brulee amongst some dark fruit. Flavors follow the nose
with a muted bourbon note, rich char, dark bakers cocoa, dark espresso, and dark
berry notes of black and raspberry amongst some caramel malts and brulee. Mouth
feel is full, coating, moderately slick, medium light leaning towards light carbonation,
and a bitter malt finish.
Overall, solid but the bourbon is muted. Of note the barrel does appear more with
warmth but the char and roast override it. Still very good though.
Cheers

The pour is black like used motor oil and was capped with a brown head that stood tall for a minute and then dissipated. A few islands of lacing were all that remained.
The taste is all imperial stout at first, not nearly as sweet as most BBA stouts, but then they don’t mention what barrels they used. Rich coffees are very dark chocolate.
Some oak shows up and then the bourbon, so I’m guessing it’s bourbon barrels used.
The feel is properly viscous, it’s smooth and full feeling.
OA, Happy they released this to Western Michigan. Good beer.
