Bomber poured into a pint glass. Bottle says this is 8.6%, which doesn't match the listing.
3.5 A: Clear medium to dark orange color. Two and a half fingers of foamy white head. Retention is very good an d lots of irregular lacing is left.
3.5 S: Nose is primarily toastiness and resiny/grassy hops. Caramel and a touch of molasses underneath. The smell is a bit weak, but it's not bad.
3.0 T: The taste is surprisingly bitter. The bitterness is aggressive for the style and doesn't really work. There's also resiny, earthy, and grassy hop flavors. Toastiness and caramel come next. A touch of bready yeastiness, but clean overall.
3.5 M: Medium body with some girth to it. Good moderate carbonation. Toasty aftertaste.
3.0 D: It's okay, but it's trying too hard to be an IPA instead of a red.

A - Pours a bright amber red color, crystal clear with a nice bright white creamy foam head and very sticky lacing,
S - The nose is almost not even present, what's there is toasted toffee caramel malt with some mild traces of citrus and pine.
T - Herbally, earthy, roasted caramel malt, with some alcohol and finishes with a mild citrus and pine bitterness to slap down whatever sweetness is left and the citrus presence starts to build as you work through the 22 oz bomber. There's also a spicy rye presence and whether or not it's used in this beer I can't confirm but sure do get the taste of it buried down under at the end.
M - Thick medium body, very gentle on the tongue with little to no carbonation and a semi-dry finish.
O - I'm not a fan of red ales at all and would buy this again because of it's unique character.
