Great brew, smooth and good hop flavor. Overall would recommend to all.

 

 

 

 

 

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Acquired on sale at the local beer store for something like $3.99. It's been way too long since I last had a beer from this brewery, thus this is my first beer review of a beer from Three Heads Brewing.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a hazy cloudy honeyed orange colored body with two fingers of frothy off-white head with nice staying power. Leaves behind some good thick webbed lacing behind on the glass. Looks nice for what it is.

S - The aroma is of faded herbal / twiggy/ earthy / grassy presence, with some light citrus pith buried underneath. A light herbally horseradish type note is noticeable, but not off-putting.

T - Taste follows the nose - dry, herbal, grainy, grassy, with some bready honeyed malt and lemony citrus pith buried in the background.

M - The feel is smooth, creamy, & easy-drinking. Medium-light bodied with good carbonation. Mildly bitter & dry on the finish.

Overall, I rather enjoyed it, and I would definitely say it deserves a little bit better of a rating than it's current 78. A fine re-introduction to Three Heads Brewing for me; I look forward to revisiting more of their beers.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

My local priced this stuff down to make room on the shelf for other things, so I finally pounced on it. It pours a clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises barley, wild rice, grass, and a touch of sweet vinyl. The taste holds note of wild rice, vinyl, sharp grass, flowers, and Indian corn. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, this stuff just didn't jive with my tastebuds. Straight up.

 

Been in the fridge for a couple months as it's hard to crack something like this in the middle of winter, but finally decided to just do it. No date.

Slow rise up the neck after opening makes me a little worried, pours a nice head though, creamy fluffy 1 finger that fades slowly, with lots of sticky lacing, a hazy slight sediment laden nectar orange color.

Nose has some mild creamy malts, little toasty lager notes, soft malt notes as well, and mild lager yeast aroma. However, there is also a mild bacterial infection, soured infection, wah-wah.

Taste doesn't seem to have the infection at first... it has a big toasty grainy husky malt, little corn like corn mash and husk, with a big straw toasty grainy malt, bit of a soft lager and crisp feel, more mild steam beer like mineral mixed soft lager notes. then some mild grassy earthy like hops, a touch spicy but fair bitterness. Somehow I don't get any of the infection flavor but it's almost definite and pretty strong on the nose, but I do get a some sulfur, weird. Finish is dry and fairly bitter, nice grassy slight spicy hop bitterness, little sticky feeling, mild sweetness but crisp and soft, maybe the slightest hint of infection.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, soft feeling, crisp and nice carb.

Overall not bad, other than the obvious big infection on the nose, but somehow not affecting the taste really, just the slightest touch on the finish. Fairly decent taste, adn could have been a better nose, but not too bad.

 

22 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Loud crack upon opening, probably infected. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that last. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a ton of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lightly tart lemon zest, green apple, pear, cracker, bread, light honey, hay, straw, grass, herbal, light pepper, funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with balanced malt and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, green apple, pear, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, straw, floral, grass, pepper, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of green apple, pear, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, straw, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of malt and fruity yeast flavors; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall, despite obvious infection, this was a nicely enjoyable brew. Obviously not to style, but was tasty for what was there. Very smooth and crisp to drink as well.
