Cold from the tap during Bloomington Beer Week, to a 12oz bell's snifter, semi opaque copper with a full finger white foamy head leaving a good bit of spotty lace.
Aroma of butterscotch, vanilla and not a lot more.
Interesting sweet honey, butterscotch, dark sugars. vanilla, and a bit of oak (?) Super big bodied, smooth and creamy.

Growler filled a couple days ago. This review is what Flat 12 had listed as BA Winter Cycle. I'm told it was a blend of Van Winkle 10yr and Buffalo Trace 8yr barrels.
Barrel Aged Winter Cycle pours a medium bodied dark amber in color with a light, off white soapy lacing around the glass. The nose is sweet and oaky and has a nice amount of apricot marmalade fruitiness. The hops definitely take a backseat to the malt and barrel aspects of the beer. The flavors, big and malty with a lot of oak and fruity sweetness. It drinks an off dry and is light on the palate with moderate carbonation. I get more neutral oak than anything but I could see bourbon characteristics. It also has some slight red wine barrel characteristics as well in the way it drinks It drinks nicely for the ABV and has borderline barleywine characteristics which show nicely. I love seeing BA DIPAs so this one is a treat. Good job by the guys and gals a Flat 12.
