artie is a masterwork from one of the most underappreciated breweries in the country. these guys have long been killing it with their wild stuff, but this one is positively next level, maybe my favorite beer from my trip to saint louis, which was packed with great ales! from the bottle it pours a light and fizzy pale straw to orange color, with a rising airy white head, very much alive and emitting a mature funky aroma, peachy and tropical too, lots of wood for such a light brew overall, hardly any acidity but plenty of bretty funkiness, this is exactly the kind of wild beer/saison i am high on right now, and its a beautiful example of this sort of thing. white wine and dried apricot and orange marmalade, with horsey sort of organic earthy funk, dry and sparkling in feel, made weighty by wood not by grain, yet still delicate. vanilla and tea, orange zest and honey, golden malty and delicate, special and fancy to me, a more compelling brett profile than i have encountered in awhile, its so mature and interesting, citrusy and musty, lambic-esque in places but there is very little sourness here. they have packed a lot into this little beer, its really world class. id love to have another bottle for the cellar, but this is drinking beautifully right now. wow!

Pours a cloudy gold color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of strong bacterial funk, yeast, citrus, floral hops, hint of alcohol, and a hint of pale malt. Fits the style of an American Wild Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong bacterial funk, yeast, citrus, floral hops, hint of liquor, hint of alcohol, and a hint of pale malt. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and great blend.

Light golden hued with a fingernail of off white around half of the rim and a third of the top. The aroma is of lactic acid, pale wheat, and oak. I'm tasting pale wheat, lactic acid, and woodsy oak. The mouth is dry and highly carbonated. This is a fairly well executed wild ale. Very drinkable and full of flavor.
