Crider has always wanted to brew a Pink IPA (or is it a Pink Eye-PA?) and name it “Conjunctivitis.” We brewed this New England-style IPA with Zythos hops, lactose, and hibiscus flowers. Here’s mud in your eye!

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 1/22/2020. Pours lightly hazy reddish/pinkish/orange/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lacing cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, cranberry, strawberry, hibiscus, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light biscuit/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, hibiscus, lactose, and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, cranberry, strawberry, hibiscus, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light biscuit/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and hibiscus tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, cranberry, strawberry, hibiscus, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, hibiscus, lactose, and bready malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitter/tangy balance; and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tang. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/tangy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slight lingering resins/rinds. Minimal warming alcohol for 5.5%, or lingering hop burn after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding NEIPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, hibiscus, lactose, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/tangy/drying finish; fantastic soft feel. Awesome Zythos profile. Very juicy/vibrant hops/hibiscus, with light dank/earthy notes; with a nice lactose and pale/wheat malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding spot on style example.

Wow, this is smooth. Zero bitterness, just smooth, crushable, fruitiness with prominent floral hibiscus upfront. Slightly sweet and easy drinking. Really doesn't even come across as an IPA because it's so smooth.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on March 10, 2019. New England style IPA brewed with Zythos hops, lactose and hibiscus flowers. The hibiscus gives it an attractive pink hue.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, pinkish color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of flowers, sweet fruits and toasted caramel. Sweet fruit flavor with a floral touch and a nice bitter bite.
