Imperial Stout made with Dark Matter Coffee ‘Machete’ coffee. Bourbon barrel-aged beans blended w/ our new Imperial Stout - the result is one of our favorite beers. Rich, toasted chocolate melds wonderfully with the bright, cherry, vanilla & caramel notes of the beans.

Black in color with just a suggestion of light getting through when held up to light. Just a few traces of beige in a handful of small spots. The aroma is of dark roasted coffee and dark chocolate. The dark roasted coffee is very strong and forward. There’s also dark cocoa, marzipan, and caramel. The mouth is dry and a touch oily from the coffee.

poured from a 16oz can into a snifter. pours a dark brown not quite black. oily and shiny. thick looking. smell is all coffee roast. maybe a little too roasty. taste is roastiness with a touch of bitter coffee. tastes a little sweet like there’s vanilla added or something. a bit of subdued chocolate but covered up by roast. i think that’s just the 2nd Shift base stout though. feel is thick and low carb. overall, a very enjoyable and drinkable coffee stout. the coffee adds more roast to an already roasty base stout.
