This soft, slightly hoppy Kolsch-style ale is bright and light with soft biscuit notes and has us dreaming of warm summer days on the river.

This brew is a clear gold color with a white, pillowy head. Better clarity than I expected. There is light, sweet, grainy aroma. There is a musty hop and light fruit scent present as well. The taste is balanced, if not just slightly tilted sweet. A little oxidized cardboard taste that was a surprise. The beer dries up in the finish. Light in body.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light golden color with a mild to moderate white head. SRM of 7. (3.75)

Aroma: Mild aromas of pale malts and vinous fruity notes upfront. White grape and orchardfruit in the middle. Yeast and grains on the finish.

flavor: Juicy flavors of sweet apple and vinous notes. More sweet in apple in the yeast with a lightly tart flavor. Champagne notes. Some pale malts. Lightly sweet.

Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation. Leaves a lightly tart sweet green apple flavor on the palate.

Compared to KC Bier Ko Kolsch 8/20/22: Pours a similar appearance, stronger aromas. More vinous and orchardfruit. Less herbal pale malts. More fruity yeast and sweeter.

Compared to New Glarus Kid Kolsch 8/20/22: Pours a similar appearance, milder aromas. More orchardfruit and tart green apple in the yeast. Less sweet grape within the yeast. Similar body, slightly lighter. Overall, similar. I think I prefer this one.

Overall: A very nice Kolsch here. Vinous and orchardfruit aromas, but really cranks it up in the flavor with sweet and lightly tart green apple in the yeast. Definitely a champagne quality to it. The flavors are there. Nice body. One of the better ones I've had. (Rating: 4.14)

Pours a crystal clear golden color. Highly effervescent. Thick frothy white head forms on the beer, lingers for a moment and then slowly dissipates leaving a thin layer of white foam on top of the beer. Aroma has notes of sweet malts, some grain, and some light grassy hops. It is a pretty straightforward aroma - within the style but does not have that fruity note I have gotten from some of the other examples.

Taste has notes of sweet malts, but with more of a fresh baked bread character that I was getting on the nose. Grassy hops with a slight hint of spiciness come through on the back end. there is a slight sweetness on the finish. Feel is light, crisp, easy drinking. Bright carbonation.

This is a bot more "simple" kolsch than some of the other ones I've had today, but its very nice and certainly is one I could spend an afternoon drinking.

poured from a 16oz can into a 2nd Shift “YOU DESERVE THIS!” stange. pours a typical lager pour - straw gold with quite a bit of flowing, soapy white foam head. a wonderful mixture of bready and cracker-like malts with floral and fruity esters. this truly lager meets ale. lager flavors of bread, malts and yeast finished with a fruitier, slightly hoppier finish. it’s damn tasty; almost reaching. it has a medium-full mouthfeel that i wish had a little more carbonation to it. still very tasty and refreshing. a good take on the style. glad to have tried it.

12oz can. Poured out a crystal clear, golden yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of sweet biscuits, caramel, toffee and floral notes. Sweet toasted caramel malt with toffee and a mild citrusy bite.

Gold in color with a a moderate amount of sediment. There’s a quarter inch of off white on top. The aroma is of lightly bready malt. I’m tasting lightly bready sourdough malt. The mouth is very light, crisp, and refreshing.

Can dated 4/20/20 into pint glass. Pours a clear gold color with a small, brief, white head. Initial impression is bread, crackers, and a touch of grape. Mouthfeel is medium - crisp and quite clean. Finish is smooth and gentle, fading to something reminiscent of apple cider. Very refreshing on a hot summer day!

wish i'd had this beer back in the summer. from the can into a pint glass, clear gold with a simple little white head that's settled into a steady ring of foam. nose is crisp and clean, lots of bread-y malt notes with some bits of yeast and a very slight fruit thing happening. drinks much the same, with a very clean and clear biscuit/white bread/cracker-ish flavor profile taking the charge. that flows quickly into a good helping of lager yeast that's joined with some apple/pear fruit notes and then settles back to where it started. super easy to drink, fairly full in the mouth from what i expected and overall just a pleasant beer to have with a burger or whatever. stands on its own but doesn't try to throw any punches, which is what i look for anymore. hope they pump out more of this.
