Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Date stamp is 11/20/21...I think, its blurry.
Beer was part of a recent trade with @beer_economicus. thank you!
the beer pours a jet black color with no light passing through the glass. A dense creamy beige head foams up about 2 cm and rests on the surface of the beer. This foam sticks around through most of the sampling of this beer. Nice staying power.
Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malt notes and a bit of earthy hops. There is also some dry roast coffee notes in the nose as well. No hint of the booze level.
First sip reveals a medium body with mild yet tingly carbonation. Almost spacious. Texture is smooth and does bit of a coating on my palate.
Flavor is roasted malt and coffee with hints of brown sugar. The coffee is what comes back on the finish and lingers a bit after each swallow. Not a sweet imperial stout and no hop notes and the booze is well hidden too.
A pretty decent coffee imperial stout, nothing overwhelming or crazy complex, but enjoyable and delivers what to expect from the label.

Review #1447
Coffee Liquid Spiritual Delight:
The bottom of the can had a best by the date it has surpassed. The beer is 11.5 percent and kept in the fridge. I think I have beers older than that with 11 percent in the cellar. The temperature of the beer is 50 degrees and served in a tulip glass. A hard pour produced a one-fingered head with dismal retention. The dark brown head is creamy and foamy, leaving no lacing on the glass. Oily dark brown with reddish hues is the color of the beer, charting around SRM 36. This beer is dark and looks thicks.
I smell coffee and chocolate after I opened the can up. Dark sugars, figs, raisins, alcohol, caramel, toffee, char, fire, herbal, and floral are what I detect next. Nosing further, I get dark fruit, anise, phenols, and earthiness.
The coffee in this beer is astounding. I cannot recall a beer with this much coffee. The coffee has profiles of leather, tobacco, chocolate, and orange. The roasted notes of malt in the beer are char, fire, and smoke. The rest of the flavors in the beer are anise, figs, raisins, toffee, caramel, alcohol, dark brown sugar, earthiness, and cereal grains.
The mouthfeel of the beer is creamy, thick, and a touch bitter.
The body of the beer is full, low carbonation, and fuller finish.
The insane amount of coffee in the beer is delightful. I was able to detect the coffee profile. The coffee did lend to a bit of bitterness in the beer. The beer has this slight off-putting phenolic and alcohol taste. Although the beer did surpass the best by date, it was delicious. I enjoyed this beer. Must try for any coffee lover!
