Silhouette is a rich & robust Russian Style Imperial Stout with notes of roasted malt, unsweetened chocolate, roasted coffee beans & dried red fruit. Brewed to be more dry & toasty than it's American Imperial Stout counterpart, the robust mouthfeel gives this rich stout a lovely velvet finish.

I picked up this single from the brewery. It has a packaged date of 10/30/25. The beer's logo is different than that on the image...it has a stylized skull. The beer itself is motor oil black, thick and viscous, and has a deep tan head. The smell is of fresh-brewed coffee, serious dark roast, but not as intense as I expected. The taste sweet up front, with a notable malt and roasted grain flavor. Solid mid-taste bitterness. Dark roast notes throughout. Full in body and flavorful finish.

16 oz can ($4.19) served in a goblet.

Appearance. Blackish mahogany colored body with a rather weak beige head that still manages to leave some lacing on the glass.

This is a rich RIS with a nearly creamy smooth, full body. Good, dark roasty flavor and an even better aroma. Some dark dried fruit notes in the aroma while the flavor is more suggestive of coffee.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a snifter. Date Stamp packaged on 2/14/2022.
The beer pours a jet black color with no light passing through the glass. Think black coffee. A tan to brown fizzy head of 1.5 cm foams up, but this head fades to a thin edge layer quickly after the pour.
The aroma on this beer is roasted malt, dark chocolate, some coffee grounds and a bit of molasses. Certainly not sweet on the nose, and no hops nor any ABV hints either. Straightforward aroma on this malty imperial stout.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine gentle carbonation and relatively smooth texture.
Flavor is dark chocolate and some roasted malt notes with a molasses coming through again. No hops and the booze is hidden. There arent any adjuncts or flavorings on this one so it is pretty straight forward malty imperial stout. Well made and no flaws in my opinion. Worth a pick up for sure if in the area or see the brewery and want a good no frills imperial stout.

Pours black with two and a half fingers of thick caramel-colored foam. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts with hearty roasty barley and grain behind. It has a very porous, grainy delivery. Chocolate adds a little extra sweetness. Coffee is present, but minor, more like a nuanced, subtle addition. Flavor profile is driven by roasty malts and roasty barley. It delivers hearty earthy, and caramelly malts over chocolate and coffee. Coffee is a subtle after thought, but the chocolate really sings. As the beer warms, soothing caramel comes out, paving over some of the porous, bumpy roasty notes. The emphasis on grainy, roasty notes drives the bus here, but also keeps this beer from gaining depth and nuance. What it does do well, is develops a biting, bitter-forward imperial stout. Mouth feel is medium-thick at open with a gritty texture. Despite the heft, it feels hollow, tapering off into a thin finish. Overall, an imperial stout that leans heavily into roasty notes all the way through. The grittiness in texture matches the taste. While not an overly complicated, or nuanced imperial stout, it does deliver on the promise of alcohol and dark, roasty notes.

Labeled as 2nd Shift's Silhouette Imperial Stout. Side label says brewed and canned by Crider Brewing Company LLC. 16oz can. 9.1% ABV. Packaged on 12/20/22 (last digit is difficult to decipher.)

I’m rating the base beer which is referenced by name, but is not the one in the photo or in some of the reviews here. Black in color with no penetration to light. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim and covering a quarter of one of the sides. The aroma is of dark malt, a hint of piney hops, smoke, and black licorice. I’m tasting smoke, dark malt, and piney hops. The mouth is thick, sticky, and dry.

From a 12-oz can. Not as much heat from the peppers as I was expecting, and that's a good thing. The chocolate and cinnamon are evident in the taste and balance the peppers nicely. Mouthfeel is probably as thick as I've ever experienced with an imperial stout. Bourbon is mostly evident in the aroma, but is in the background in the taste too. Nicely done.

Black with thin light brown head. Booze, caramel, coconut,
banana, chocolatey roast in the sweet aroma. Flavor follows. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Heavy mouthfeel

Jet black with a small tan head. The aroma was not strong but did have notes of roasted malt and coffee. It sweet taste that has caramel and coffee flavors. This had a very late toffee aftertaste. The body is medium with a fairly quick finish.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of roasted malt, toffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Sweet chocolate taste with roasted caramel malt, toffee and coffee flavors.
