This variation of Liquid Spiritual Delight imperial stout was aged for 26 months in Weller Green Label bourbon barrels & blended with 65lbs of Ghirardelli chocolate, 50lbs of toasted coconut & 2lbs of Tahitian vanilla beans. Silky, creamy smooth chocolate & soft hazelnut are blended beautifully, and are complimented in the finish by the vanilla beans as well as the soft spice & heat of the barrels.

poured from a 12oz can into a snifter. pours an inky black with a thin mocha brown foam cap. huge chocolate aromas with a hazelnut and bourbon / oak background. taste follows and it’s mostly chocolate decadence with bourbon, oak, vanilla and hazelnut as an afterthought. but damn it works! really rich and filling and satisfying! the adjuncts kind of dominate the barrel if i had to nitpick and on a personal level, i wouldn’t mind more hazelnut but this is highly enjoyable. medium-full mouthfeel; nicely carbed to where it gives you enough fizz to make it not a cup of goop. wish i had bought more of these as i’m down to one can after this one and i see zero reason to age this type of adjuncted barrel-aged imperial stout. this one is flying under the radar for sure though so perhaps i’ll be able to snag some more next time i’m visiting StL.
