A collaboration with our friends at Switchgrass Spirits - Volume 1 of the new series of "River des Peres Row Crew" member included beers is an absolutely phenomenal barrel aged stout. Using a new, richer base stout we aged this beer in Switchgrass bourbon barrels for 20 months. The result is a lovely libation that has bourbon heat on the nose, rich chocolate, vanilla & cherry flavors and a semi-sweet/dry finish

Poured stout black with a very short light brown head which left no lacing, but it’s a year old BBA Stout so I’ll give it props for any head.
The taste is mocha with dark fruit and rich malts. Over simplified I know, but not sure how better to describe it.
The feel is viscous and smooth. This is a treat to drink.
OA, another winner from 2nd Shift’s barrel program. Delicious and smooth, way too easy to drink.

poured from a 12oz can into a TG DBA tumbler. pours a thick and deep black with half a finger of mocha brown foam head. cocoa powder, light vanilla and bourbon the nose. taste follows with a little more oak and vanilla. thick, full mouthfeel. just enough carb to the finish to keep it lively. this is insanely good.

Pours black with two fingers of khaki-tan foam that bubbles down rather quickly. Aroma is dense and dark, loaded with roasty and toasty malts sandwiched between layers of milk & dark chocolate, barrel, brownie batter, and toffee. Flavor profile is a little less dense than the aroma implies, but is still heavy and dark. Roasty and toasty malts lead out barrel, dark chocolate, and toffee. Mild char helps seal up the end. Mouth feel is thick with a velvety texture. Overall, an imperial stout with some great depth, character, and barrel use. Thoughtful every sip.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 12oz can.
