A nice lunch lager; had with soup and a sandwich, both veggie with dry cheese.
Chi Tavern Looks like an average lager (it could improve with a foam that lasts past the pour.) Smells improve slightly, but are mostly malt. Tastes are balanced with the hops providing a subtle, long finish. Medium-mouthed, crisp, bubbly.
14 years after founding, I see Haymarket changed up its slogan to "Making Great Beer for Great Beer Drinkers." That's a bit more flattery than I need. But if it continues to make Haymarket a commercial success, then power to them. Only my 7th brew from Haymarket, I nonetheless will miss them as I move shortly.

16 oz can into a pilsner glass. Cloudy pale straw color with a sudsy white head. Freshly baked bread and honey aroma. Taste follows, sweet doughy malt, honey, very mild medicinal hop bitterness to balance somewhat. Medium body but easy-drinking with good carbonation.

Superb lager, honey and malt at the forefront, hint of spice that quickly dies down. Extremely drinkable with it's light body, this is a perfect beer for adjunct lager fans looking for something related, and with flavor. If only it was slightly cheaper.

Pale yellow, white head, minimal lacing. A definite malt forward beer, grainy and grassy. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, a definite summertime beer, very good.

Taste: slight sweet, caramel malts, clean finish. Mild crystal malt nose. Bright Golden hue, clear, white head some ringed lace. Medium/light body. Summertime lager.

Included as part of a "Chicago Handshake" as described from @FBarber's glorious Chicago generosity during NBW BIF #13.
Pours a slightly cloudy golden colour, with a big head of wet foam, that's just so ever slightly offwhite. Settles back down pretty quickly, but leaves occasional patches of lacing on the glass.
Nose is all straw and biscuity malts. There's some earthiness verging on grassiness, and a touch of graham cracker sweetness, but it's definitely malt-driven.
Sweeter taste that starts with some honey and passes through the straw grains again to finish with a bit of general earthy hopping. Again, faintly grassy, but mostly just nondescript earthy hops. A touch spicy on the end as well. That spiciness builds as I work through the glass into a prominent black pepper character.
Fuller body than I expected, and a dry finish that quickly makes way for the next sip. I can see it fitting right in with its namesake as an anonymous glass in a divier bar/tavern. An almost dank almost pucker at the very finish that's interesting.
Overall, this strikes me as firmly in the category of a beer for drinking. No frills, no nonsense, dark room, good people, greasy food.
Thanks Frank for sending this combo my direction!

Clear pale gold body, sudsy white head and thick lacing, visible carbonation. Smell and taste are clones: pale grains meets grassy hops and biscuit malt, simple and classic. Feel has the dortmunder murkiness but only for a fleeting moment, lighter for style but decently crisp. Good all around. The wife liked it
