Queen Anne's Revenge

A nice, roundly-brown black, with a visible thickness and a nose of deeply-burnt sugars and drunken-fruit esters, belie a syrupy-yet-thin mouthfeel and a solid-but-unsophisticated sets of flavors. Don't get me wrong: it's inoffensive, if not tasty, and drinkable, if not exciting, but somehow still seems a bit lacking overall. I'd like a bit more creaminess, if not velvety textures, in the body; I'd like some smoke, or some other taste-vector, to pair with the baked caramel tastes; I'd like it to hide its abv a bit more, as—even though I don't recall exactly what it's abv is—Queen Anne's Revenge has a bit of (perhaps appropriate, given her name) heat, for which other elements don't really do anything to compensate.

It's a solid solid—though maybe not quite some imperious as intended—but I wouldn't necessarily rush to order another (and a growler's-worth maybe represents a bit much).
