Poured a dark amber producing a short-lived, off-white head that left little lacing. Aroma is toasted malts, caramel and toffee with floral and citrus hints. The taste is malt forward with toast, toffee and caramel backed by citrus hints in the lightly bitter finish and short-lived aftertaste. Mouthfeel is smooth and medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation.

I'm trying this beer at the Water Tower Taproom in Montgomery, Alabama. It poured a clear amber with froathy white head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had very subtle caramel malt presence. The taste was malt leaning but still easy to drink. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's an ok beer.

Solid amber. Flavor is super nutty and toasty. Malt profile is tasty. But a bit cloying and sweet. I enjoyed it but can't help thinking this needs more work to make it special.

Amber in color with some moderate to minimal sized sediment within the body. There's a fingernail of brown across the top. The aroma is of chestnuts and caramel. I'm tasting sweet malt with flavors of bready malt, sourdough pretzels, and chestnuts. The mouth is slick and lightly oily.

I had this Amber on tap at Margaritaville restaurant in Panama City Beach, FL. Poured a deep reddish brown with a creamy beige head.

Spicy, malt accented aroma.

Very pleasing bittersweet, roasty flavor with a hint of butterscotch.

A well-rounded mouthfeel with zesty carbonation.

Overall, a pleasant Amber with a nice hop bite.

A: mahogany, ruby red, beige head, nice lace for a plastic cup.

S: sweet malts, caramel, bits of sticky happiness. Mild, but pleasant.

T: caramel, toasted malts, floral hops, mild bitterness.

Overall, a pleasant amber ale. Good drinkability, refreshing by the beach.

Much better than I expected, full of bready malt flavor with just enough hops to give it some balance. I wouldn’t even consider it an Amber with that much malt, but they’ve got some consistency problems from what I’ve heard. I may just be one of the lucky ones that got a great batch.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass

A: Pours a clear, deep amber color. There is a thin, oily tan cap of foam that sticks around for a while. Very light curtains of lace.

S: Toffee and mild nuttiness with a little bit of sugary molasses. Mild, sweet malt flavors with a faint touch of pine.

T: Mild caramel and some toasty notes. Bready malt with a hint of sweet fig. Some yeast flavors as well. Pine and grass faintly round up the finish.

M: Mild carbonation and medium bodied. The lack of carbonation makes the beer feel a little watery.

O: A decent amber ale. Easy drinking enough with mild malt flavors.

A: half finger head on a deep amber body leaving a little lacing.

S: sweet caramel malts as expected a little musty and earthy.

T: more sweet caramel malts in the flavor. No lingering off-putting after taste. sort of a standard amber ale with nothing too special.

M: refreshing. moderate carbonation and on the lighter side of medium body.

Overall: Standard amber with not much to make it memorable.

Consumed March 18, 2012 at the brewery.

Clear medium brown/amber with a one-finger off-white head that settles into a ring.

Aroma is subtle: caramel and a nutty note almost mask an off aroma that reminds me a little of ammonia.

Flavor is much like the nose. Finish is moderately hoppy; lightly bitter and resiny.

Mouthfeel is unremarkable save for some carbonation tingle on the tongue.

Overall, a touch better than average.

Poured a dark amber with a medium head that faded slow and left ok lacing.

The aroma was of caramel, toasted malts, and sweet toffee with some floral and citrus notes.

The flavors were on the malty side with toffee notes and caramel ruling. Floral and citrus hops come through in the finish.

Medium bodied and smooth.

Overall, a very drinkable and enjoyable beer. Nothing that stood out from the average amber, but nicely balanced.

Enjoyed on tap at a local pizza joint; it's great to see local business supporting local business. In a pint glass it's a nice clear dark amber color with good carbonation threads. One finger whitish foam head fades fairly quickly leaving a good amount of sheeting and lace. Since it was windy out on the patio, it was hard to get the nose off of the pint glass but what I could detect was faintly bready with a sweetish caramel-type lightly toasted malt. In the mouth, there's crisp hoppiness out front with light caramel toasted malt and hints of buttery diacetyl. Piney hops then citrus, with a bitter, burnt finish and hints of alcohol. Mouth is nicely crisp, sharp, watery, quenching--complementary of style. Drinkability is good; I enjoyed two but the 6.1% ABV+ started catching up, making this a borderline sessionable brew.

Overall: A pretty complex and bold amber. I think the recipe has been tweaked since the previous review.

Riptide red, I was there about a week after opening and this was from the first batch. I expect it will improve over time as they work things out. I will return at a later date to try again and will update the review.

A Red color, not much head that faded quickly, 3.5,

S Caramel and malty without much hop aroma 3.5

T The malt flavor I expected from the aroma isn't there, and the hops aren't significant which leaves this beer kind of flat on flavor. 3

M Thin mouthfeel and it needs more carbonation 3

D Definitely could be a good beer but lacks sufficient malt and hops flavor. 3
