on tap at the brewery, Portland

Bright cherry amber with clingy tan film.
Cherry Danish and blood orange on the nose.
Red currant and sweet pastry up front with a speck of chocolate malt then pomegranate, pine sap and more blood orange hops.
Chalky finish and bitter cherry stone comeback on the linger.
Medium, crisp, slight chew.

I believe the 99 IBUs. A bit light for that, though, and too easy on the aroma. Too much red fruit and too sweet - all red Twizzlers and peanut skins. Lots of medium-dark crystal, if I were guessing, where it could use a bit of brightness.

Firkin at Bailey's. Murky light reddish brown with a big bubbled off-white head leaving a little clinging traces of sticky bubbles.

Smell is citrus hops, lime heavy, modest though.

Taste is muddy, the most prominent feature is the hop bitterness. Modest hop flavor, and dirty malt, some heat. Not too good, more like a poorly executed english strong ale.

Mouthfeel is thin, more watery than light.

Drinkability isn't to high for me. I assume this is about as fresh as it gets, and isn't show well at all. I suppose it is at least in their house, English inspired style.

poured from tap into a pint glass. Pours a dark orange/gold color with a good head.

A bit odd on the aromas. There was the hops, but there was a slightly disjointedness to it with some caramel, toffee, and bitter notes as well. Kinda like a weird hopped up ESB.

Full bodied but very disjointed. In fact, I didn't even attempt to finish this it was that disjointed. Weird flavors of caramel and bitter notes with some hops.

Like I said, I couldn't finish this. Just too many good beers to drink instead of this.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a lightly cloudy reddish amber color with a half-inch of just off-white head that had low retention and a low-middle amount of lacing.

The aroma was pretty evenly balanced between a solid malt base and a medium amount of floral and piney hops. On the tongue the beer was nicely sweet up front and a decent hop finish.

The body was good, a bit fuller than average for the style and was a bit sticky, in a sugary way. The beer was easily drinkable for a brew near 8%. Overall, this is a pretty average example of the style. Worth trying if you see it.
