Neptune’s Wrath is a Strong Ale brewed with 18 gallons of Hama Hama oyster liquor and 4 pounds Lemon peel. We took half of this batch of beer and aged it in Cristom Pinot noir barrels. After 6 months on oak we back blended it with the non barrel aged half. This beer is 10.2% ABV and has notes of cherry, french oak, malt sweetness with a slight brininess at the back end.

Pours a slightly murky dark brown with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, fruits, and some slight spice notes. Taste is much the same with the spice flavors lingering on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but really nothing all that exciting in my opinion.

Smell is of malt, fruits, and some slight spice notes. Taste is much the same with the spice flavors lingering on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but really nothing all that exciting in my opinion.

Served in Tulip. Poured a clean, slightly reddish, brown color with about an inch and a half of white head that moderate retention and lacing.
The aroma had a nice earthy component at the base with a slight funk from the oyster. This is actually the first oyster beer where I could smell some oyster. The flavor was very similar,earthy, oceany and a touch of hops.
The body was nicely full without being heavy and had a nice lingering stickyness. Drinkability was pretty good for a beer of this strength. Overall, a very nice beer, that depending on your taste for oysters, has a very interesting presence. Certainly worth trying if you see it.
