On tap at Coronado Brewing.

A: Dark brown with a red hue. Small beige head.

S: Caramel with biscuit and toasted bread. Toffee is evident and hops are earthy.

T: Toasted bread blends with biscuit and a little toffee. The malt is rich and complex. There's a little caramel. The finish is dry and malty. Light earthy bitterness.

M: Lower medium body with upper moderate carbonation.

Overall: A hoppier than usual English Brown (I guess it's an American Brown, then). Pretty good stuff.

Flowing at Mad Mex Robinson, pours a deep mahogany with a deep brown hue and tan cramy head leaving behind fine speckled lacing coats the glass. Aroma has an herbal mild citrus blend of hops goes down not like your typical brown ale more of a caramel dark chocolate nuttiness infused with some welcomed alpha hops. Flavor herbal mint mild citric hops and a creamy texture which gets the party started along with an even flavored mildly roasty malt character. Mouthfeel has a medium body with mellow carbonation flowing as smooth as ever, this beer leaves me with the impression that brown ales are overlooked. In addition to that West Coast brown ales that are this quality are almost nonexistent because everybody is chasing the hop, like a heroin addicts chases the high.

poured from a growler into my arrogant bastard pint glass, sandy brown head tops the brew, leaves nice lacing down the glass and leaves a nice thin top to it all the way down. The body coloration is a deep reddish brown color, dark embers.

The scent is definitely the characteristic brown ale, it's smooth and malty with no real hop aromas imparted. Very much reminds me of brown sugar and some raw almonds, sweet biscuit.

the flavor profile is great, it is very malt forward and sweet but not overly so. Creamy in the smoothness and has a nice bready/nutty aftertaste. Walnuts and pecans come to mind for the nuts and the bread is definitely a dark wheat.

A: The pour is a dark brown sort of color with a finger's worth of khaki colored foam.

S: The nose is quite nutty, as the name might suggest, along with a bit of chocolate and sweet malt. The hops come out a bit as the beer warms up, but they don't mingle very well with the malt.

T: The flavor is sharp and slightly abrasive. The nutty quality is not very smooth, like in a good example of a brown ale. There is a hint of bittersweet chocolate and some caramel/toffee.

M: The body is medium with an average level of carbonation to the pour.

D: Something was just a bit off about this beer. The nose seemed okay, but the flavors just weren't quite there.

Pours a deep red amber in color, though certainly not quite brown. Head and lacing were typically minimal of an ice bath glass. Mid pint the beer did start to grab a bit.

Smell is decent with malt, and a bit of nut and chocolate. Later on some hops were quite apparent. Warming was helpful in that regard and really points this beer towards the American Brown style.

Taste was decent, though a bit thin. Roasted malts and nuts and with a short finish. I need to start asking for dry glassware. Feel was, again, a bit thin and watery with flavors not sticking too long. Though this, and the mild ABV, made for an easy quaff.

an average brew, very similar to the other three samples i had at the brewery that sitting.
