Collaboration with Maui Brewing Company.
Coronado Brewing Company and Maui Brewing Company teamed up to brew one of the hottest new styles in craft beer. The Island-Style IPA, semi-recently coined in the craft beer world, is an IPA that captures the elements of a hazy IPA (i.e. tropical, juicy), but finishes clear, bright and crisp from the use of Cal Ale yeast. Post-boil, it’s loaded with New Zealand and west coast hops including Mosaic, Waimea, Motueka, El Dorado, and Chinook giving the beer super juicy, fruit-forward flavors of pineapple, mango, stone fruit, citrus, and pine.

Grabbed this on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s. This was the first time I saw this. I didn’t have a lot of high hopes going in as it was a collab between Coronado and Maui. Untappd description called it, “Coronado Brewing Company and Maui Brewing Company teamed up to brew one of the hottest new styles in craft beer. Poured a medium gold clear color with five fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at a fast pace. Almost perfect thick foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Waimea and Motueka first, and a little bit of Mosaic. Also pineapple, mango, guava, pine, grapefruit, citrus zest, sweet fruit, coconut, dry grass and hints of spice. A little better out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got Waimea, Motueka, Chinook and a little bit of Mosaic. Specifically pineapple, grapefruit, pine, bitter grapefruit peel, peppery spice, mango, guava, citrus zest, sweet fruit, pear, dish soap, herbal, dry grass and light coconut. (Taste - 3.75)
Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, clean finish. (Feel - 4.25)
May have slightly underrated this overall, but it was very good. (Overall - 3.75)

Nice tropical IPA. Lots of citrus in the nose & aftertaste! Slightly dry at the end.

This is a surprisingly good beer -- more than the sum of its collaborating brewers. Maui's fine. Coronado is good. But this is a borderline-excellent beer -- a great find at Trader Joe's.

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local beer store just around the corner. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving some nice lace. The scent had dank tropical fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical fruit peel presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Clear golden brew with a handsome pile of white foam in the IPA glass. Crisp and sudsy mouthfeel. Light body with plenty of aromatics and a modest bitter aftertaste. Aroma of fermenting pineapple and mango with a drift of pine. More sober than lush, but quite flavorful. Notes of citrus and unripe plums with a mineral finish.
Lively and tangy, a pleasant quaff. This is a collaboration with Maui Brewing. The inviting blend of US and NZ hops includes El Dorado, Waimea, Motueka, Mosaic, and Chinook. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. Dated 9/28/2020 on the bottom.
