Like the marine layer lingering over the San Diego coastline, Haze on the Horizon IPA is pleasantly cloudy and full of body. Nelson, Citra, Sabro & Motueka hops give this beer a bright, tropical citrus profile with lingering white grape and coconut undertones.

Grabbed a can of this and a host of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Was surprised to see this for the first time. Had not heard of hit before. Online description I found was “Like the marine layer lingering over the San Diego coastline, Haze on the Horizon IPA is pleasantly cloudy and full of body. Nelson, Citra, Sabro & Motueka hops give this beer a bright, tropical citrus profile with lingering white grape and coconut undertones.” Was looking forward to that hop combo.
Poured a medium yellow hazy color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky white head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 5.00)
Smelled Nelson and Sabro for hops right away. Also dish soap, cedar, coconut, white grape, viney berry, grapefruit, Citra, mango and papaya. Pretty solid from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Sabro dominated the first couple of tastes. Also cedar, coconut, leafy mint, peppery spice, Nelson, viney berry, white grape, grapefruit, Citra, papaya, mango and lots of tropical notes. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)

At 55 IBU, this hazy IPA is right in the sweet spot for my palate. Plus, it has Motueka hops, so it's got flavors of tropical fruit that I really love in an NEIPA. But there's something so sharp in the taste -- or maybe the carbonation? -- that makes it much harder to drink. The mouthfeel is both creamy and...so prickly that I'd describe it as spiky? I don't understand this beer.
