The beer is a black color.
The dark has dark fruit, a hint of cherry, and roasted malt.
The flavor is hugely complex. Despite being the name, the cherry is very faint in this beer. The flavor is of roasted malt, chocolate, and cocoa.
There then is a great amount tiny bubbled carbonation to clean up the richness of this beer.
This is a world class beer. It reminds me of Everett with its complexity. It's so rich and delicious, but there's also that wonderful hint of cherry.

Half finger light tan head on a cloudy deep brown body. Aroma of toffee, caramel, hint if coffee and dark chocolate but fairly mild. Very flavorful with brown sugar and dark chocolate initially moving to coffee and roasted malts with the dark fruit, mostly cherry, coming late in the finish. Medium body an light to moderate carbonation. Very flavorful, easy to drink. Cherry is there but it leaves you wanting a little more. Still more full bodied and flavorful than your standard porter.

On tap at City Tavern in Culver City, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy latticework of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and cookie dough. Taste is much the same with a slight fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

On tap at the The Loft on the LMU Campus.
a- looks like motor oil. Clean dark brown. Barely any bubbles
s- barely any smell even when you drink it.
t- Alchohol is invisible. Very smooth Porter but nothing magical. The cherry is an afterthought. Only slight cherry hint in the aftertaste. Cherry Coke has way more fruitiness.
o- Smooth porter, solid craft beer.

Smells and tastes like coffee to me. Lovely creamy head and mouthfeel, and it was the last half pint in the keg. Definitely an unusual Porter flavor. It's like wine mixed with cappuchino plus a hint of Mexican cocoa. Really dark color, near black. Not too malty to taste, though there is a sweetness on the lips. Use your imagination to turn this into a ripe bing cherry with your java.
Flavors die out to a cardboard finish. Interesting aroma of tea with rose hips. Fruity it ain't. On tap at the recently opened Fathom on Shelter Island.

Type: Draft
Glass: Half-pint glass
From: Coronado Brewing Company in Coronado, Calif. (San Diego)
Price: $3.00
Misc.: Had on Jan. 21, 2013
Poured a black color with one finger of tan head when I got it. Very nice foamy lacing on the sides on the way down. Average retention.
Smelled chocolate, caramel, toffee and slight bitter coffee beans.
Tasted chocolate, toffee, caramel, toast, slight coffee beans, nutty and a hint of black cherry. Nice and smooth.
Full body. Creamy-to-slick texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish.
A nice porter and good way to end my day. Smooth and tasty, although having a name with cherry in it should have more cherry.

On tap at the Coronado brewpub, an easy drinking black beer with reddish highlights. The small head falls quickly to a thin band; almost no lacing at all.
Both taste and aroma are moderately roasty with a fair dose of fresh cherries. Well integrated and very real tasting; no Robitussin here. Lesser chocolate and coffee notes underneath.
Medium bodied, with carbonation on the higher side for a porter. A little prickly.
I’m a porter fan in general and I like cherries so this one appealed to me and I knew I had to try it as soon as I saw it on the menu. Enjoyed it at least as much as Stone’s chocolate cherry stout collaboration beer. Goes down easy and tastes very fresh. I got a lot more cherry flavor than the other reviewer, apparently.
