This was another beer that I picked up at the Total Wine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when I was down that way not too long ago. Never had anything from Tin Roof before and although this wasn't the best example of a Saison, there was enough to like here as this beer was relaxed and unoffensive as they come!
No surprise that this had a golden hue to it that was uniformly hazy and quietly radiant as it was topped off with a nice amount of wavy foam. That settled somewhat quickly but there wasn't much of any lacing left behind as a clump of suds stuck around in the middle of my glass. A fair amount of yeast, farmhouse funk, spice, and bread were in the muted nose as the taste also had all of those notes. Hints of fall fruit, champagne, and banana came through once this fully warmed up as this was nicely complex without being overbearing, with some leathery notes sticking around in the aftertaste.
The carbonation was lively and the alcohol was spot-on as the warming complemented the fall fruit and spice nicely, leading me to wish I had this back in the fall. No date was found anywhere on the can, which was a shame given how lovely the label was. While not as good as something from overseas or from Ommegang, this was a good take on the style that was pleasing and accessible from star to finish. Tin Roof has a nice offering here that needs to be posted on their website, so more can find out about this easygoing brew!
