HOPS: Northern Brewer, East Kent Goldings
MALTS: Pale Two Row, Wheat, Crystal Malts
ADJUNCTS: Hand roasted coffee and cacao nibs sourced locally in Santa Barbara
INSPIRATION: “We brewed this beer in an attempt to blend familiar flavors like coffee and chocolate into an unlikely color palette,” explains Kevin Ashford, Head Brewer of Santa Barbara who decided to create this beer after enjoying an inspirational beer at Noble Ale Works in Anaheim. “This beer looks deceivingly light like a gold ale but it actually tastes more like a stout. It’s a great summer time beer because you get the best of both worlds in one beer.”

First coffee beer I have had that wasn't based on a dark beer.
Golden ale with a small white colored head. It lives up to its description.
Smells strongly of coffee when you pop the top. Strong sweet coffee scent. Light roasted coffee significant wine notes. Little bit of smoke and ash to the scent. Caramel malt scent. Strong cherry note.
Starts out mildly sweet with a nutty coffee taste. Tastes like Italian Coffee soda you can get in Europe. Significantly malty and a little syrupy tasting. It is certainly easy to drink, half the glass is gone before you notice it.
Mouthfeel is OK.
Drinkability is where this really shines, super quaffable.

Bottle.
A: Golden color, totally clear with a thin white head that has adequate retention.
A: Coffee, moderate chocolate, slightly earthy, with a light wheat, roasted malt aroma
T: Coffee upfront, with a slightly earthy note, light caramel-like malt, with a dry finish.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: Alright; tastes more like a golden ale that has adjuncts, rather than integrating these aromas and flavors or a stout.
