This is a solid fruity/juicy IPA. Compared to others options like Sculpin, this one just hits way better!

Pours golden yellow with mild fruity guava finish. Smooth, clean, crisp.

This reminded me of Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin. While this might be heresy, after only one 16oz can, I think I prefer this. Rather than some of the sharp, bitter, and rind-like grapefruit notes in the Sculpin, the Guava here contributes a just-right tartness that allows the underlying hops to still shine through. In other words, this beer seems to achieve a better balance of the fruit component. I imagine I will still seek out Grapefruit Sculpin for the eye-opening hit of grapefruit, but this one is a special beer and definitely worthy of the comparison. I'm very glad I took a chance on it as Figueroa's offerings have not been memorable before this.

1/17/2024: Poured from a can into a pint glass, pale yellow and clear. Wonderful aromas of guava, but in no way cloying, just pure guava smell. Small head that lingers throughout drinking, maintains effervescence to the bottom of the glass. Classic West Coast style IPA, which are my favorites. Hoppy, but not over the top hoppy.
I like Figueroa Mountain beers overall, including Hoppy Poppy, and their regular (i.e. non guava) Point Conception IPA.
I'd highly recommend this guava version.
