Collaboration with Comrade Brewing Co

A collusion (collaboration) with our friends to the north in Denver, at Comrade Brewing Co. We put our hop minded brains together to brew MICA. A big fruity aroma with just the right amount of bitterness in this west coast style IPA. Brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and Ekuanot, we then dry hopped it with Centennial and Waimea. A step back and a nice change from the hazy IPA’s.

Thanks to hop hound for this gem.
Almost clear. Frothy white head dissipates fairly quickly, but leaves scattered lacing.
Smell is glorious. Piney, resiny, malt backbone and a gentle kiss of floral citrus.
Flavor is much of the same, nearly dank, but more resiny. Malt comes through a bit bready, then honey like in sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium and decently carbonated.
Overall, a very solid "non hazy" IPA. The nose is the star of this beer, but still comes through nicely on taste as well.

16 oz can, canned on 9/5/18. Pours slightly hazy orange gold with a small white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is fruity, piney, resiny hops with some malt in the background.

The flavor is sweet bready biscuit malt and fruit with big piney resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a well balanced IPA.

Clear body; medium golden color to the body; nice carbonation; thick, creamy head. Very spicy hop aroma; pine resin; some citrus edge. Light malt grain base with a prominent hop bite; resinous. Heavy body; sharp and bracing to the palate; balanced between a residual sugar sweetness and a bitter, boozy dryness.

I, personally, agree with the sentiment of the beer's name. Juicy, sugary IPAs have their place, but my preference is for a more 'classic' styling, albeit with a decidedly hop smack down. Regardless, this is a well-done collaboration beer, neatly highlighting classic west coast hop bomb beer stylings. If that is your thing, then this beer is one to check out...

L - lives up to its name. Clear as day.
S - funky whiff of tropical gummy bears....not much else, a little clean pine.
T- more of the gummy bear. Not sure if this beer was finished but it is smooth. A little more attenuated in its finish. Like a tropical version of elevated.
F- carbonated but a little too smooth.
O- it's a good beer but like a lot of collaborations it is just not as good as either of the brewers real IPA flagships.

16oz can $3.99. Bright yellow, great head, and of course it has great clarity. Aroma is hops, clean and piney. Flavor is a lot like La Cumbre Elevated. Super hoppy but piney, green, dank hops. Solid IPA.
